Chapter 1543

As dawn broke, a group of Ian's men set out early.

Ian reminded 00 to take a walk around the city, to keep a low profile, but to remain vigilant.

With her face masked and her cap pulled down low, 00 began to wander the bustling streets, blending

into the urban tapestry.

Meanwhile, Philip and Phil arrived at their destination in the afternoon.

But they didn't head to the city of Cania; instead, they took a helicopter straight to the headquarters of

the research complex.

The complex was situated in the heart of the world's most lush and complicated forest. On the surface,

it was shrouded by dense forests teeming with all manner of poisonous flora and fauna. Beneath this

deceptive canopy lay the vast underground facility.

Initially, a few billion dollars were poured into this project, and now, decades later, the complex still

gleamed as if brand new.

At the entrance, a retinal scanner verified the identities of the newcomers. Every thirty feet, these tests

were repeated, all in the effort to keep outsiders at bay.

In addition to retinal data, the final checkpoint included a gait analysis system.

The twenty-meter-long corridor they now faced was lined with cameras that compared the gait of each

person entering against previous records. Any discrepancy would trigger the gun turrets overhead into

a barrage of bullets, and the guards stationed nearby would quietly come to collect what remained.

Over the years, not a single outsider had breached the research complex.

Philip and Phil passed each verification point without issue and finally reached the main hall.

The hall spanned several thousand square feet, bustling with personnel in white lab coats.

However, unlike other facilities, here the staff were shackled with ankle monitors that ensured they

could never leave the complex. If they tried, the monitors would explode, and losing a leg would be the

least of their worries.

"Where's the Professor?" Philip inquired of a nearby staff member.

"Inside, waiting for you," they replied, leading the way through a series of fortified walls to a secluded

room.

This was where the internal members of the complex resided. Philip knocked on the door with practiced

ease.

Their mentor was an elegant middle-aged woman named Mandy. She had been with the complex for

thirty years and was now fifty, having contributed many strategies and becoming one of the key figures

within the facility.

Even such core members were not permitted to leave.

"Professor," Philip greeted her with respect.

The woman sat in a leather chair, a simple jade bracelet on her wrist. Age had not diminished her

grace.

"You're back," she said, her face seemingly gentle, though her eyes lacked warmth as they moved over

"Did you resolve your issue while you were out?"

"We haven't found her yet," Philip responded calmly, taking a seat and preparing tea for himself, "But

over in North America, Augus from the Sanders family has been poisoned, nearly to death. Without the

antidote from our complex, he's done for."

He respectfully presented a gift, the Jellyfish Seal, "Professor, this is for your birthday."

The malice in her eyes was palpable as she clasped the Jellyfish Seal tightly.

Her grudge against the Sanders family, against Cynthia, pleased Philip; he shared the same disdain for

the Sanders family, the same dislike for Cynthia. Content belongs to Draмanovels.cоm

"Summer?"

"A member of our organization. He's the one who got ahold of the Jellyfish Seal this time."

"Ah, I see," she murmured, her words laden with hidden meaning.
