Chapter 1526

Getting married?

Carol was getting hitched?

There was a momentary pause on the other end of the line, then a sense of urgency crept into her

voice.

"How long have you known Felix, and are you serious? Would Mr. Miller approve?"

She had met Mr. Miller once, and he had always emphasized that marriage must be between equals;

otherwise, life together would be a misery.

So, when Carol started dating Felix, she kept it a secret from the Miller clan.

"Maja, I've got a bit on my plate right now, can't chat. I'll give you a ring later, okay? Bye, my dear."novelbin

Carol sounded breezy, not at all like someone with a problem.

After hanging up, Carol tilted her head back, gazing out at the sunset.

Tonight, there was a banquet in Greenfield, a well-known charity gala, attended by many. Star Movie

Group had received an invitation, too.

With Maja out of the picture, Zoey was once again the one to attend.

After getting all dolled up, Zoey stared at her pale reflection in the mirror and asked the makeup artist

to lay on another layer of blush.

Arriving at the event, clutching her purse, she hesitated at the entrance.

Lately, she kept bumping into Mia at these gatherings.

Ever since Mia found out about her fling with Fitch, she had been on her like a rabid dog.

But Zoey was trapped; after all, Mia was Fitch's sister, a Haskins heiress.

Zoey's only backer was Star Movie Group, and she couldn't let it go down on her watch.

Taking a deep breath, steeling herself, she finally walked into the gala.

These sorts of events were monthly affairs, meant for networking and resource exchange—Star Movie

Group needed these opportunities.

As the company flourished, Zoey found herself greeted by more and more investors every time she

made an appearance.

She sipped wine with some recent collaborators when she caught sight of Mia, standing not too far

away, with a smug look and surrounded by a gaggle of fake friends.

Zoey recognized those faces; they were always around Mia when she was up to no good.

Just like now, Mia stood tall, proud as a princess, pointing towards the restroom.

Out here, Zoey was the face of Star Movie Group; she couldn't afford a public scandal. Mia wouldn't

dare confront her outright, so their unspoken agreement was that the restroom was their battlefield.

Zoey knew her responsibility to the company. Maja had entrusted her with Star Movie Group, and she

couldn't let it be tarnished.

So, she relented and headed in the direction Mia had pointed.

Inside the restroom, as expected, Mia and her plastic posse arrived.

They checked the room thoroughly, making sure it was empty, and then Mia's slap came flying.

"You're such a tramp, always so obedient. If you dare tell my brother about this, I'll ruin you! Star Movie

Group won't stand a chance in this industry!"

The slap stung her face, and her head turned from the force, only to be yanked back by her hair.

Blood trickled from the corner of Zoey's mouth, her gaze distant and indifferent.

The rest of the mean-girl squad sprang into action, scooping up water and dousing her head with it.

Her dress was soaked in an instant, with a faint smell of disinfectant.

Zoey bore it all in silence until Mia's stiletto heel kicked her leg, sending her to her knees uncontrollably.

The mean girls erupted in delight. Updated at Drаmanovels.com

"That's right, get down! Trash like you deserves this!"

"Mia, check out her eyes. She doesn't seem happy about this."

Fitch's aversion to women was no secret in their circle.
