Chapter 1524

In a nondescript town somewhere in North America, a man watched the scenes playing out on the

video feed with a smirk.

The video showed Cynthia, along with some strangers.

He could hear their hushed voices, a smirk playing on his lips.

He had a strong desire to control his former protégée, initially planning to whisk her away amidst the

chaos.novelbin

But where else could he find a basement as perfect as this? It was the golden cage he had

meticulously planned to imprison her in since childhood, a labor of love, so to speak.

The people on the video seemed aware they were under surveillance, speaking in hushed tones and

mostly communicating through text messages on their phones.

The man watched the monitors, not the least bit worried. He knew Cynthia couldn't escape. As long as

she was under his watchful eye, he was in a good mood.

Watching a woman of such stature gradually lose her dignity and become so obedient was his

crowning achievement.

His smile deepened at the sound of someone knocking on the door, announcing the arrival of visitors.

A frown creased his forehead momentarily as he left the room.

Upon reaching the living room on the first floor, he found Philip and his ever-present shadow, Phil,

sitting in the parlor.

"What brings the two of you here?" he asked with a casual air.

Philip looked up at him.

He had avoided a direct confrontation with Quentin because of this man.

The man's name was Summer, and he was connected to the research facility.

Within the BK organization, he and Summer were the only two with ties to that mysterious place.

Summer owned Forbidden Island, and for years he had been supplying the research facility with

subjects for their experiments, holding a place of influence within their ranks.

Since both of them were entangled with the research facility, there was no need for open hostility.

Who would have thought that Quentin would be the first to break the truce?

"Summer, where's Quentin?"

Philip asked, his face a picture of calm.

"He endured a full day of torture, died, and his body was dumped outside. Whether the bombs

destroyed him or not, that's all down to luck," Summer said, unfazed by the fate of the young man he

had watched grow up.

Philip raised an eyebrow in understanding, chuckling softly.

"I thought you might have gone easy on him, Summer."

But Summer was not one to show mercy to anyone.

Summer took a seat, silent. He knew he had once shown weakness for one person—Cynthia, his

protégée.

Unfortunately, she squandered his leniency and thus deserved her fate as a plaything in his hands.

Life is preordained. Human efforts are in vain.

Summer regarded the brothers, aware of the secrecy shrouding the research facility. He knew they

were insiders, but their exact roles remained unclear to him.

After all, in that place, no one shared information freely, and individual records were kept confidential,

accessible only to the highest echelons.

Philip set down his teacup, "This time I failed because of Quentin. I regret his death."

Quentin was talented and as ruthless as Summer.

No one knew why he suddenly sided with Maja, as if bewitched.

Human nature was indeed complex.

"What brings you here today?" Summer inquired.

"I want to confirm if Cynthia is still alive," Philip stated with a smile, his gaze unwaveringly fixed on

Summer.

Minutes before the explosion, he had learned of Cynthia's whereabouts on Forbidden Island.

And Forbidden Island was Summer's domain, the only place she could have been hidden all these

years.

So now, was Cynthia dead or alive?

It was a taunt. Content belongs to Dr?мanоvels.com

Especially after going to such lengths to manipulate Cynthia's daughter as if it were all a game.

What was the reason behind it?

Phil's tone was light.

"I want to know if I am qualified now."
