Chapter 1514

If he made one wrong move, the next bullet wouldn't whiz by—it would hit home.

With a slight arch of his brow, Ian scanned the horizon.

But all he could see was the sandy beach not far beneath his feet and the relentless stretch of ocean—

everything else was a blur.

He had no clue where the shooter was hiding, but the situation reeked of a sniper's handiwork.

And not just one—only a team could cover their angles so tightly.

The thrumming of helicopter blades began to fill the air. It looked like they wanted to negotiate.

Ian stood his ground, then heard K's voice cut through the noise.

"Leave Maja behind."

It wasn't really K's play. After stirring up so much trouble, he wanted Maja and Ian to be trapped there

forever.

This trip had been fraught with too many twists, and Ian was done playing cat and mouse. He couldn't

afford any more complications.

But someone wanted Maja alive and by their side.

Since K had chosen to collaborate, he had to keep his word.

After all, Maja's life wouldn't be a bed of roses once she was with them.

As for Ian, his fate was sealed to die tonight.

If Ian died, it was one less problem for K.

Having figured out the crux of it all, K stood impassively in the chopper.

The chopper's roar was too loud, drawing a lot of attention, especially following a round of gunfire.

Maja, held tight in Ian's arms, didn't need to think hard to guess K's intentions.

"Ian, he wants you to stay," she murmured.

"Yeah."

Ian wasn't dumb, and he pulled her closer.

Maja's cheek pressed against his chest, "If you hand me over, I'm as good as dead. He wants me alive,

though I've got no clue why."

Her gaze swept the surroundings, her tone light.

"We're at a dead end with nothing but sea ahead. What else do you have on you?"

With the night's chaos, it was unlikely Ian was unprepared.

Ian chuckled softly, "Smoke grenades."

Maja raised an eyebrow. How convenient.

"Thirty seconds. Can we make it to the edge and jump? Dylan and Abner's crews are nearby. You've

got a flair, right?"

The moment they leap, set off the flare. Let those two deal with Kyle.

"I do."novelbin

Ian's grip was firm, his voice tinged with hesitation.

A dive into the sea was the only way out, but with Maja pregnant, who knew what could happen from

such a height.

He considered handing her over first, then escaping under the cover of smoke.

Maja saw through his plan, her expression icy.

"If you don't take me with you, I'll jump myself."

A leap here meant certain death on the beach.

And the moment Ian tried to surrender Maja, those snipers lurking in the shadows would fire.

Without any reservations, they could turn the area into a sieve. It would be impossible for Ian to leave

here alive

Maja's hands clung to his neck, her posture screaming 'you're not shaking me off.'

Ian took a deep breath, yanked the pin on the smoke grenade, and in seconds, tossed several down

the path. Clutching Maja, he bolted.

With the smokescreen, the outsiders couldn't see a thing.

K's face darkened instantly, and he barked orders to the surrounding pilots.

"Find them."

Ian's heart raced as he reached the edge, released the agreed-upon flare for Dylan, and plunged into

the sea.

The dark waters swallowed them up as Dylan and Abner, alerted by the flare, saw several choppers

converging on their location, clashing head-on with K's men.
