Chapter 1495

But all that, surely, was a matter for later consideration.

Right now, his suspicions were squarely on the identity of this man.

As the man was shrouded in a dark cloak, it would be all too easy for someone to masquerade as him.

He'd been duped by such trickery before. Once Ian had the audacity to cavort with Maja right under his

nose in his own villa.

The mere thought of it now still made his blood boil.

To prevent a repeat of such an incident, he had to see Mr. BLACK's face for himself.

"Lord Bradshaw, if I recall correctly, Ian was imprisoned not too long ago, right? Now that he's on the

run, you might not be fully aware of the kind of man Ian is. He's bold yet meticulous. I need you to

confirm Mr. BLACK's identity. Otherwise, I fear it might be Ian in disguise. After all, he has pulled such

stunts before."

Timothy frowned, finding the situation rather preposterous.

An escaped convict daring to impersonate a distinguished guest of Inner Island?

But this was Ian, a man whose arrival on Inner Island had always caused a stir.

"Mr. Patric, for all these years, we've been none the wiser about Mr. BLACK's appearance."

"Just as long as it's not Ian."

Patric spoke calmly, a cold glint passing through his eyes, "Let's do it tomorrow morning. Ralap is

coming over to persuade you anyway. We'll have Mr. BLACK reveal his face in front of everyone."novelbin

"Wouldn't that offend him?"

Timothy was apprehensive. After all, Mr. BLACK had been a revered guest among the leading families

for years.

No one knew for certain whether Patric could actually produce that drug he spoke of, and it seemed

unwise to offend Mr. BLACK without good reason.

If Patric had been deceiving him from the start, the Bradshaw family stood to lose a great deal.

Patric produced a pill between his fingertips and placed it into Timothy's palm.

"This is a drug that makes people compliant. Within three minutes, a person with weak willpower can

be easily manipulated. Lord Bradshaw might want to test it on someone before considering my offer."

Timothy's grip on the pill tightened.

"Alright, I'll get back to you with an answer for Mr. Patric shortly."

He was still skeptical of Patric as he spoke.

Returning to his room, Timothy summoned a newly hired maid – a young woman who had recently

joined the Bradshaw household.

"Swallow this."

Women had no standing here.

She shivered but obediently swallowed the pill.

In less than five minutes, her eyes glazed over.

Timothy waved a cup of tea with his fingers, "Strip."

She began to undress.

A smirk curled Timothy's lips as he called in the bodyguard.

The bodyguard stood by respectfully and attentively.

"Take the dagger from the table and try to kill him," Timothy continued.

The woman slowly approached the table and griped the dagger.

The bodyguard, startled, immediately knelt, "My Lord."

As the woman raised the dagger to strike, Timothy shouted, "Stop!"

She halted, the dagger clattering to the floor.

Timothy clapped his hands in excitement, "Good, very good."

The bodyguard, clueless to what had transpired, heard Timothy's instructions, "Go tell Mr. Patric that I'll

comply with his wishes."

The bodyguard quickly stood up and went to find Patric.

His lips twisted into a smile, and his eyes danced with exhilaration.

Meanwhile, Ian was sitting up in bed, unable to sleep.

He thought of Maja, whom he had only glimpsed briefly, but she seemed to be in a terrible state.

He needed to find an opportunity to take her away soon.

As he got up and pushed the door open, it occurred to him that Oliver had mentioned Robin. Read at

The ancestral hall was the Bradshaw family's forbidden ground, heavily guarded and off-limits to all.

No one could reach Robin from outside unless his punishment was over.

Apparently, he was sentenced to a month's punishment, which meant that Ian wouldn't see Robin for a

month.

There were many bodyguards inside the Bradshaw house; even a casual stroll for ten minutes would

lead to inquiry.

Around the room that just had its windows sealed, there were even more bodyguards to keep everyone

away.
