Chapter 1445

When Maja returned to the underground fighting ring, her phone buzzed with a call from Beck.

“Maja, I've sorted everything out with the Sanders family. You don't need to worry. Those two share

transfer documents are still valid. While you're gone, I'll keep an eye on the Sanders family. Dylan has

stepped out now that things are settled.”

It was clear Dylan had been used as a tool to fix the mess.

Beck shuffled through the papers in his hand as he briefed the situation over the phone.

“I'll get the hang of the company’s affairs. Even if I stumble, I can always call Dylan back. You focus on

finding that antidote, we're all waiting for you.”

A wave of relief washed over Maja.

Her time with Beck had been brief, yet both in the past and now, he always had the air of an older

brother.

As for Dylan, he was overly indulgent with Judith.

But looking at it from another angle, if Maja hadn't been switched at birth, she would have been the

object of such boundless affection.

Dylan was at fault was an understatement.

He erred in not lavishing that favor and indulgence upon the right person.

After hanging up, Maja turned towards Ian, who stood by the window. She still harbored some worry

about the imposters’ claims. Test subjects? Could it all be linked to Ian?

She slowly wrapped her arms around his waist from behind.

Ian placed his hand over hers.

“Maja, I know what’s worrying you. Don't overthink it.”

She rested her forehead against his back, “How can I not?”

Ian felt a twinge of helplessness and turned to envelop her in an embrace.

“If you want me to explain, I wouldn’t know where to start. I’m just as confused. That's why we need tonovelbin

bring Patric along on this trip. Maybe he’ll remember something along the way.”

Maja nodded, thinking about the impending journey and how long it might be before they returned. She

took out her phone and called Zoey.

Zoey’s voice sounded raspy as if she might be sick.

“Zoey, are you alright?”

In Greenfield, Zoey touched her forehead and peered into the dark sky outside, forcing a smile.

“I'm fine, Ms. Pennyfeather. Are you coming back soon?”

“Not for a while. Ian and I are heading somewhere that might take months.”

“Don't worry about the company, Ms. Pennyfeather. I'll take care of everything.”

Maja breathed a sigh of relief. With Zoey at the helm, she trusted Star Movie Group would thrive.

Zoey glanced down, and the night's events were painting a bittersweet smile on her lips.

“Ms. Pennyfeather, I’ll be waiting for your return.”

After the call, she heard a dog barking. Ozzy, the puppy she and Fitch had adopted. But since Fitch’s

memory returned, he hadn't contacted her. Before his amnesia, they had at least managed to see each

other regularly, even if his interest was merely sex, a kind of spiteful desire.

Now, there was nothing.

It was Zoey’s fault for not being more heartless. The sound of Ozzy’s barking brought back memories

of Fitch, his promises, and the moments they shared in that villa.

She had been warned by Ian, but she had not resisted temptation and had hastily given away her

heart. Now, she lived with a lingering bitterness.

Work became her refuge, especially since Maja's departure had left the core team to handle

everything. Zoey had been pushing through long nights, and tonight, she had to accompany Cornelia

and Wilma to a gala.

Cornelia and Wilma, now A-listers, needed to network and meet with potential investors.

Zoey typed away on her keyboard until six in the evening, at which point Cornelia walked in.

“Zoey, you're pushing yourself too hard. Elvis said you haven't left the office in two days?”

Zoey's vision blurred as she sipped her cold coffee.

“With Ms. Pennyfeather away, I want her to focus on her tasks, knowing that things back here are

under control.”

“You need to take care of yourself. And that woman who's been causing trouble lately, Mia Haskins,

she's got some clout behind her family name, and she’s been pretty harsh.”

Every day, Mia made it a point to visit the office, casting aspersions and accusing Zoey of seducing

Fitch.

Zoey was taken aback, wondering if all heiresses had such leisure to be so meddlesome. Mia certainly

did, as did the throng of women infatuated with Fitch.
