Chapter 1418

The car rolled to a halt in the subterranean fight club's parking lot, and Ian, with unwavering resolve,

carried her up to the seventh floor.

As Maja rested her chin on his shoulder, she could sense the stormy aura emanating from him.

Once he gently laid her on the bed, Ian retreated to the bathroom to draw a bath.

However, he was so lost in thought that he failed to notice the hot water spilling over the edges of the

tub.

It wasn't until Maja glanced at the clock, wondering why Ian had been in the bathroom for an eternity,

that she discovered the minor flood he had inadvertently caused.

Jolted back to reality, Ian scrambled to turn off the tap, his movements clumsy and rushed.

Maja stood at the bathroom doorway and announced, "You know, soaking in the tub isn't recommended

during pregnancy. I think I'll skip the bath tonight."

Ian stiffened at her words, drained the tub, and asked, "Should you take your prenatal vitamins then?"

Her silence sent a shiver of dread through him.

He had no right to press her on this matter—he knew how much she loved him, and he also realizednovelbin

that the timing for a child couldn't be worse.

But his selfishness prevailed. He wanted this baby so badly.

Adjusting the shower to a comfortable temperature, Ian offered, "Maja, your robe's right there. Go

ahead and shower. I'll use the one next door."

She nodded, her gaze lingering on his drenched clothes as he left.

Stripping off her own garments, Maja stepped under the warm spray, her mind racing with thoughts of

the address Eric had given her, the BK, and the research facility that could pose a significant threat to

them.

She hadn't found Lillian yet. There was so much left undone. Perhaps K would exploit the news of her

pregnancy.

She sighed softly and turned off the water.

Next door, Ian was equally consumed by turbulent thoughts. He didn't even know how to react if Maja

decided she didn't want the child.

After his shower, Ian reentered the room to find Maja sitting on the bed, flipping through a book half-

heartedly.

"Ian, did you inform my mentor of my return?" she asked without looking up.

"I did. He's still clueless about the Sanders family's intentions."

She patted the space beside her. "Can we talk?"

Ian's breath hitched as he approached the bed, anxiety gnawing at him.

Sitting down, he pulled the covers back and said, "Let's talk."

The words were barely out, and his mouth was dry, a nervous smile tugging at his lips. "What's on your

mind?"

"This baby, the timing couldn't be worse," she said flatly.

Ian felt a wave of heartache wash over him. His palms were sweaty, and he struggled to breathe.

Maja put down the book and massaged her temples. "I'm worried about the problems that might arise

later on."

His eyes brimmed with emotion, but he had to respect her decision, no matter how much it hurt.

"So you have to take extra care of me from now on, alright? If we have another night like this one, it

could be fatal for both of us."

Ian snapped out of his daze, meeting her smile with disbelief.

Her hair had grown past her shoulders, and she casually tucked a strand behind her ear. "I've thought

about it, and I've decided, let's have this baby."

"Ian!" she exclaimed, as he enveloped her in a tight embrace, his voice tinged with emotion.

"I thought you didn't want it."

She nestled into him, shaking her head. "My silence was just out of shock. I'm not ready for this."

"It's my fault. If I'd been more careful from the start."

Maja's face flushed with embarrassment as she placed a hand over his mouth. "Stop. Go check on

Beck. Why did he come here tonight anyway?"

The mention of the Sanders family darkened Ian's expression.

They had treated her so poorly. Sending her back to them would be a sentence to misery.

"I'll go see him now," Ian promised, his spirits lifting at Maja's acceptance of their unborn child. His

sagging demeanor brightened, his whole being alight with newfound energy.

After changing into dry clothes, he made his way downstairs to find Beck.

It was late, and Beck had been waiting, eyes glued to the seventh floor, showing no inclination to leave.
