Chapter 1394
The tone was exactly the same as before.
Zoey's last shred of hope was extinguished, leaving her speechless and her cheeks scorching with a
mix of pain and humiliation. And there was Mia, fanning the flames.
"You heard what my brother said, didn't you? Now scram! Or I'll have you thrown out."
Zoey didn't look back at anyone as she walked away, head down.
Mia's snort of disdain followed her, "Some women just can't see their place, thinking they're all high and
mighty after a couple of rolls in the hay. They don't even realize they're just trash from the gutter."
After her words, Mia even gossiped about Zoey with her clique.
Mia's circle was large and, although Maja had put her in her place once - leaving her somewhat afraid
of Maja - she felt no fear towards Zoey. She even thought she could regain her lost pride from Maja by
taking it out on Zoey.
With a cold laugh, Mia quickly followed Fitch's orders and summoned Tyler.
Entering the hospital room and not seeing Zoey, Tyler was puzzled. After all, before the surgery, Fitch
had been all over her with affection, and Zoey had seemed so concerned. It was odd that now that
Fitch was awake, she had left.
"Where's Zoey?"
Tyler wasn't fond of Maja but had a decent impression of Zoey. To him, Maja's antics were too much -
she had once been Ian's wife, yet cheated and fooled around with his buddies.novelbin
But Zoey was different. She seemed loyal and was personally chosen by Ian to take care of things, her
background undoubtedly clean.
"Why are you asking about her?"
Fitch's brows were furrowed with irritation and even a hint of nausea. He threw off the covers and got
out of bed without hesitation, heading to the bathroom.
Tyler stood at the door, shaking his head slightly at Fitch's annoyed face.
"You seemed pretty nice to her when you had memory loss."
After rinsing his mouth with bottled water, Fitch pushed past Tyler and headed out.
"Tyler, come with me. There's something I need to discuss with you."
Knowing it was serious business, Tyler followed immediately.
The Haskins were left in the hospital, none expecting Fitch to discharge himself so soon without
informing them. No one dared to object, though, because as soon as Fitch was in charge, the Haskins
family would follow his lead.
Fitch was half way back to his mansion when he couldn't hold back any longer.
"Stop the car!"
Tyler hit the brakes instantly.
Fitch opened the door and leaned over the flowerbed, vomiting. It was probably his most undignified
moment, even worse than any injury he had sustained.
Tyler patted his back, trying to offer some comfort.
"Man, how deep did that past event scar you? Don't tell me you're sick from remembering that kiss with
Zoey."
Fitch's complexion was off as he rinsed his mouth again, practically stumbling back to his mansion in
disarray.
Once he reached his bedroom, he barely had a chance to speak before he rushed into the bathroom to
vomit again.
Tyler glanced at his watch and decided to wait outside. Half an hour later, Fitch emerged from the
shower, the corners of his eyes reddened from retching.
To Tyler, Fitch was a man of extreme self-control, even more so than Ian at times. Fitch's attitude
towards women was, frankly, dismissive.
Ian, tough-talking as he might be, would pursue relentlessly once truly smitten. Fitch was different; the
moment he sensed a detour on his path, he'd straighten out without a second thought.
His life allowed for no mistakes, not even a fling. If he slept with a woman, he could discard her just as
easily.
