Chapter 1375

Maja was sound asleep in his arms, oblivious to their conversation.

The bodyguard at the door approached to report, "Sir, Ms. Pennyfeather's phone has been fixed."

Ian took the phone, twirling it in his palm.

"However, someone had installed a program on Ms. Pennyfeather's phone that wiped all information.

The hacker couldn't recover anything. We've removed all that junk, and now it's just a regular

smartphone."

Ian grunted in acknowledgment, though he hadn't held out much hope.

He rubbed his temples and motioned for someone to fetch Patric.

Patric had been using the excuse of searching for lost memories to wander around the seventh floor

lately.

If he couldn't come up with something soon, Ian wasn't inclined to wait any longer.

When Patric arrived, he raised an eyebrow at the sight of Maja.

Ian was sitting on the couch, his voice casual.

"Remember anything yet?"

Patric instinctively moved to sit on the other side, but Ian's frown stopped him.

"Patric, do you think I brought you overseas for a vacation?"

Patric's gaze lingered on Maja, and after a long pause, he asked, "What's wrong with her?"

Ian's hand gently caressed her head, filled with tenderness.

"Is it you asking, or is it my brother Eric?"

Patric frowned; he couldn't tell.

The space was quiet, and after a long standoff, Ian said hoarsely, "She's been hypnotized. She hasn't

forgotten me, but she's not herself anymore."

Patric's frown deepened. He had an uncontrollable urge to step forward, but he knew all too well that

Ian was incredibly possessive.

He moved a few steps closer, stopping a meter away from Maja.

"Hypnotized?"

Ian nodded, his tone even more subdued, but his eyes betrayed his calm.

"The hypnosis was accompanied by drug administration, a trademark move of those people."

Hearing this, Patric felt Eric stirring within him. Every time he was near Maja, Eric's consciousness

became very active.

Ian waited, then saw the man before him slowly crouch down, studying Maja's face intently.

Ian, protective as a wolf cub with its food, pulled Maja entirely into his embrace, watching the man

warily.

"What are you doing? Why are you staring at her?"

"Ian, when she wakes up, take her here."

In an instant, Ian knew the man before him was no longer Patric; it was Eric.

Eric quickly grabbed a piece of paper and a pen from the table and scribbled down an address.

"Take Maja to this place."

Ian had many questions, but the research facility was Eric's darkest secret, perhaps even unknown to

Eric himself.

"How did you escape from there?"

Eric stiffened, his hand trembling involuntarily.

He opened his mouth as if to speak, then shook his head.

"I don't know. Someone helped me. I don't even know her name. She was a powerful hypnotist who

had worked on me. The days in that facility were the darkest and most terrifying, hiding the worst of

human darkness. If I remembered everything, I wouldn't have been able to walk out normally. Some

escaped, but soon turned mad. She made me forget those darkest memories so I could live a normal

life."

"Bro, what exactly were the experiments at the facility?"

Eric tensed again, massaging his temples.

"I remember very little."

"You're hiding something from Patric, and if you hide it from me too, we might all end up dead. I could

die, Maja could die, and those people would win. Is that what you want?"

As Ian finished speaking, the man before him turned deathly pale, then it was Patric waking up again.

He was full of anger, struggling to contain his fury.

"What did you two talk about? Are you keeping something from me?"novelbin

Ian fell silent, finding it pointless to argue with someone as obtuse as Patric.

Holding Maja close, his head buried in her neck, he spoke as though to Eric.

"Eric, if you haven't forgotten, you better tell me the truth about those experiments."

Patric's eyes lit up, and he stood up straight, urging, "Yeah, Eric, tell us. What's the truth about the

experiments? Come on, talk!"

But there was no response in his mind, as if Eric had completely vanished.

Frustrated, Patric punched the wall next to him, his knuckles smeared with blood.

"Coward!"

He felt annoyed, irritated by Ian holding Maja, and cursed inwardly. Damn it, all these people deserved

to die!
