Chapter 1296

Ian had never been so meticulous in taking care of someone. He washed every inch of her skin until it

was clean, then used a towel to wipe her body once more, before picking her up and placing her on the

bed.

He even thoughtfully wrapped her hair up, so it remained dry.

Ian stayed at the bedside, not daring to take a single step away, his gaze fixed on her face.

It was as if he couldn't get enough of looking at her.

His fingertips gently intertwined with hers, and he lay there by the bed, never moving to lie down on it

himself.

Maja woke up at seven in the morning the next day. She opened her eyes, her throat feeling hoarse.

"Ian, what time is it?"

A cup of lukewarm water was immediately handed to her. She caught a whiff of his scent and felt

instantly at ease.

"What time is it?"

"It's seven in the morning."

"How did I fall asleep last night? I remember lots of people talking."

"Phelps prescribed you some medicine."

Maja had already forgotten what she had heard last night. Her mind had been foggy, and she couldn't

remember anything clearly.

But now, she felt in great physical condition, clear-headed and refreshed.

"What kind of medicine was it? I feel much better today. I've been feeling light-headed and have been

having strange hallucinations these past few days. But now, I can feel you by my side for real, and it

feels so good."

As she said this, her face was full of smiles, and she reached out to grab his hand.

Ian pressed his lips, slowly pulling her into his embrace.

"Yeah."

"It would be so nice if we could always be like this."

Perhaps because she was feeling physically comfortable, her smile became even more genuine.

Ian didn't say anything and just held her quietly, looking into the distance.

His silence made Maja uneasy.

"What's wrong? Did something happen?"

"No, I was just thinking about what to make you for breakfast. I'll cook it myself."

When she thought of him cooking, Maja remembered the knife she had stabbed him with and instantly

felt regret.

"Let me see your wound."

She reached to pull up his shirt, but Ian grabbed her fingers, holding them tightly as if she would

disappear the next second.

Maja found it incredibly sweet, and she smiled.

"Maja, I’m fine. It wasn't a deep cut. I'll take you downstairs. I'll cook, and you can sit in the living room,

listening to the TV, okay? I'll have Coco and Rocky come keep you company."

"Okay."

She agreed quickly, clearly missing Coco too.

When they got downstairs, she took a seat on the couch. Not far away, she heard the sound of a dog

barking, followed by something tugging at her pant leg.

It was Coco.

She bent down to pet it, hearing Ian say, "I'm going to the kitchen to cook some porridge and stir-fry a

few dishes."

"Okay."

Maja's hand rested on Coco's head, and the dog enthusiastically nuzzled against it.

"Woof woof woof!"

The fluffy sensation was very enjoyable, and she petted it for a good ten minutes before she felt the

couch next to her sink. This heavy feeling meant Rocky had taken a seat on the couch.

She reached out, and sure enough, she touched Rocky's sturdy body.

The delicious smell of cooking wafted from the kitchen, and Maja felt a sense of warmth.

Even though she still couldn't see.

She took off her shoes, curled up on the couch, and rested her head against Rocky's body, feeling

incredibly warm.

Every so often, Ian would come out to see a beautiful woman lying on a pile of white fluff, her entire

being seeming even more pure.

The scene was so beautiful that he couldn't help but take out his phone and snap a photo, which he

promptly set as his wallpaper.

Back in the kitchen, as he stirred the porridge, his eyes started to well up.

He felt a sting in his heart.

He took a deep breath to calm himself down, one hand stirring the porridge with a spoon.

As Maja smelled the aroma of the porridge, she wanted to find her way to the kitchen, but then her

phone rang. It was a call from her company.

She walked towards the sound, blindly pressing buttons until she hit the answer key. It was Elvis who

had called.

"Ms. Pennyfeather, Zoey didn't come to work today, and no one's answering her phone. There was a

message in the company group chat this morning."

"What message?"

"Someone said that Zoey was doing prostitution, and even gave the specific location of the hotel.

Zoey's mother is at the company now, causing a scene."

Maja felt a surge of anger.

"What's her mother yelling about?"

Elvis just couldn't describe those words.

"Ms. Pennyfeather, if you have time, could you please come to the company?"

"Okay, I'll be right there."

After hanging up, she called out to the kitchen.

"Ian."novelbin

Ian took off his apron and immediately walked out.

"What's up?"

"There's been a situation at the company. I want to go see what's happening. Will you come with me?"

Ian's brow furrowed at this. How could she go to the company in her current condition? She needed to

rest.

But Maja grabbed his sleeve and unusually, put on a sweet act.

Even if Ian had many objections, he immediately gave in at this moment.

"I’ll ask the chef to take care of the porridge. I'll go with you, but let's come back quickly to have

breakfast."

"Okay."

Maja was really in a good mood today, arm in arm with Ian.

Ian was happy too, but when he thought about having to hand her over in two days, his smile dissolved

instantly, and he became gloomy.
