Chapter 1271

The persona Ian was impersonating was not a prominent figure within the villa, his daily duties were

simply menial tasks.

However, this man was no weakling, or he wouldn't have been chosen.

He went to the kitchen to fetch the meal that the chef had prepared, and quietly walked up to the door.

The bodyguard opened the door, "What are you waiting for? Get in there!"

The room was dark, only lit faintly by the hallway light, revealing a woman sitting by the window.

Ian's grip on the meal tray tightened, an overwhelming urge to demolish the entire villa bubbling within

him.

"Hold on."

One of the guards squinted at his retreating figure, his eyebrows knitting together.

"Clown, did you grow taller?"

Ian remained silent, the other bodyguard rolling his eyes, "You must be seeing things from staying up

all night on guard duty."

Ian didn't pay them any mind, striding into the room and shutting the door behind him.

With the door closed, the room plunged into total darkness.

He flicked the light switch on, finally laying eyes on Maja sitting by the window.

He slowly approached, placing the meal tray on the table next to her.

Maja heard his footsteps but remained silent.

As he drew nearer, she furrowed her brows.

She detected a familiar scent, somewhat resembling Ian's.

But she quickly dismissed the thought with a self-deprecating smile. How could Ian possibly be here?

After setting down the meal tray, Ian remained standing quietly by the side.

He should have left immediately, and Maja was waiting for him to do so.

But she didn't hear the sound of him leaving, causing her to furrow her brows.

She wanted to ask him why he hadn't left yet, but her voice failed her, so she resorted to tapping lightly

on the table to communicate.

At first, Ian didn't understand the message conveyed by the rhythmic tapping, until he saw Maja raise

her head in confusion, looking around.

Despite him standing just six feet away, she first looked behind herself, then to her left. Not knowing his

exact location, she started to panic, fearing that someone from the Sanders family had snuck in, or that

something had been added to her food.

What would happen this time? Last time, she lost her voice.

She stood up, carefully feeling her way along the wall, trying to locate him.

Upon seeing Maja's frantic search, Ian covered his mouth, his shoulders shaking slightly, disbelief

written all over his face.

He watched as she felt her way to the door, carefully deadbolting it, then moving on to the cabinet.

He knew she was looking for him, but what puzzled him was why she didn't make a sound.

Ian stood silently, only moving after ten minutes, when Maja almost bumped into the table lamp.

The lamp in the room was chained to the bedside table, unable to be moved.

Maja bumped her head against it, causing her to feel dizzy.

She instinctively rubbed her forehead, her face going pale instantly.novelbin

Ian quickly rushed over, helping her to her feet.

He wanted to ask if she was okay, but remembering his voice, he deliberately spoke in a hoarse tone.

"Ms. Pennyfeather, are you alright?"

Due to his rough voice, Maja didn't recognize him immediately, shaking her head slowly in response.

"Ms. Pennyfeather, rest assured, I have no ill intentions. I'll leave as soon as you finish your meal."

Given her current blindness and the absence of any malice from him, she stopped objecting.

She pushed him away and slowly felt her way back to where she had come from.

When he tried to help her, she pushed him away without hesitation.

Ian looked around the room: a bed, a wardrobe, a table lamp, a sofa, a table.

Sharp corners were all cushioned with foam to prevent her from getting hurt.

His heart ached as if it was being squeezed tightly. He slowly approached her and watched as she

used a spoon to slowly eat the food in the bowl.

She remained silent, seemingly in a bad mood.

Ian sat down in front of her, staring at her face.

She didn't look like someone in a romantic relationship with Eric. Instead, she looked more like she was

being imprisoned here.

Maja, who was slowly feeding herself, suddenly felt a finger touch the corner of her mouth. She froze,

stopping mid-action.

She smelled Ian's scent again, a faint, calming, cool fragrance.

Ian's phone was set to silent, so he had no idea how many people were trying to reach him.

He had already sent Jeff to the Raymond Corporation to keep Eric at bay, so Eric wouldn't be back

anytime soon.

Right now, he was sitting here, his fingers lingering at her earlobe.

There was an extra earring there that didn't belong to her. Her earlobe was still swollen, clearly

indicating that it was forcefully pierced.

Ian leaned forward carefully, examining the earring closely.

There were still traces of dried blood on it.

Suddenly, his heart hurt so much it felt like it was dying.

While he was parading around with Jolin, what kind of humiliation had she suffered here?
