Chapter 1145

After trudging half a kilometer, she could still hear the sound of footsteps behind her.

Even after she hailed a cab, Ian hopped in right after her.

"Are you out of your mind?"

Her tone was icy as she tried to put as much distance between them as possible.

Ian, thick-skinned as ever, sat close, remaining silent no matter how much she insulted him.

During the bumpy ride, he even reached out to cushion her head from the jolts.

When they arrived at Rosewood Manor, as she stepped out of the cab, he immediately paid the fare.

Maja had already walked to the front gate, instructing the security guard to close it.

But the guard wasn't quick enough, and Ian slipped through.

He followed her to the living room door of the villa. This time, she entered first, slamming the door

behind her.

Ian didn't follow her in, instead, he found a stone bench outside and sat down.

The garden was furnished with not only stone benches but also stone tables. He took a sip of the tea

on the table, and continued to gaze at the house.

Maja couldn't care less. If he was willing to wait outside, then let him wait.

Once upstairs, she quickly showered. Looking at the clock, it was already 2 a.m. She decided to call it

a night.

Suddenly, there was a rumble of thunder outside, flashes of lightning illuminating the room.

She heard Coco whining at the door. She quickly let it in.

Rocky followed right after. Although Rocky wasn't afraid of thunder, it sat by the bed like a guardian,

seemingly protecting her.

Both Coco and Rocky were incredibly intelligent.

The continuous thunder made it hard for Maja to fall asleep. She got up and peered out the window,

only to see Ian still sitting there.

Alone.

She clenched the curtain in frustration, feeling a mixture of anger and helplessness, this was why she

found Ian so irritating.

He seemed to take every insult and injury for granted.

This man was definitely not wired like a normal person.

But thinking about his troubled upbringing, she could almost understand him.

She felt his gaze on her and quickly ducked behind the curtain.

She realized that even she herself became abnormal. There was no light inside the room, and he

certainly couldn’t see her from the pitch black.

She went back to bed, but just as she pulled up the covers, another loud peal of thunder resounded,

followed by a downpour.

Rocky, sensing that someone was outside, rushed to the window, scratching at the glass.

Maja pulled the covers over her head, trying to force herself to sleep, but Rocky started making noises

this time.

Rocky didn't bark but howled!novelbin

Its howls went on and on, making her frown. Was Rocky part Siberian Husky?

"Rocky, stop it."

It was the dog Ian had raised, knowing his owner was out in the rain. Was he feeling bad for him?

She closed her eyes, trying to ignore it, but Rocky was too noisy. He howled for what felt like an

eternity.

Maja got up again, opened the window, and said, "If you're so worried, go join him in the rain."

To her surprise, Rocky jumped out the window.

Maja was stunned, her instincts urging her to grab him, but Rocky cleverly landed on a ledge before

jumping down to Ian.

Her attempt to grab Rocky revealed that she was still awake.

Furious, she met Ian's gaze. He had stood up and was looking up at her.

She didn't bother to pretend anymore. She went downstairs, grabbed an umbrella and went out.

Ian's eyes were shining, probably thinking his little display of endurance would bridge the gap between

them.

Maja, holding the umbrella, already regaining her composure.

"Ian, go home."

"Maja."

He called out, wanting to hug her but restrained himself, not wanting to get her wet.

Maja showed no signs of relenting. "If you think standing out here in the rain is going to solve our

problems, then keep standing, Ian. You're too immature when it comes to relationships."

"I'll change."

He reached out, grabbing a piece of her clothing. "I really will change."

Maja pulled her clothes away from his grasp.

His eyes dimmed in an instant.

They stood there for a minute before he bent down suddenly and kissed her.

The rain continued to pour, pounding on the umbrella, making a loud noise.

He kissed her for seven or eight minutes before letting go.

Maja merely wiped her lips, "And then what? You think I'll invite you into my house and we end up in

bed, and everything's fine?"

"I didn't think that."

"Then go home, think about why I can't forgive you."

She turned to look at Rocky, who was also soaked in the rain.

"Take him home too. He seems to really care about you."

With that, she turned to go back inside.

But Ian quickly spoke, "No, let Rocky stay with you."

He patted Rocky's head, "You go back."

His tone suddenly turned cold and harsh, Rocky, startled, quickly ran back to Maja's side.
