Chapter 1116

Upstairs, Maja was soaking in the warm water, thinking about how she had called Ian, only to be hung

up on as soon as she introduced herself.

It seemed he really did resent her, but if he did, why did he come looking for her last night?

She lowered her lashes, her eyes stinging from the steam. She decided she would go to him later to

explain everything.

After soaking in the bath for half an hour, she finally felt some energy return to her body. Once she was

dressed, she went downstairs.

Carol was sitting on the couch downstairs, having just finished a call with Felix.

Felix was still at work, gently asking her why she hadn't come home last night.

"I still have things to sort out at Maja's. I'll come to you later, Felix. Make sure you eat on time and don't

overwork yourself."

At that moment, Felix was sitting by Listina's hospital bed with a bowl of soup in his hands.

Listina was well taken care of and her cheeks were no longer as pale as before. She was looking at

him with curiosity, as if asking who was on the call.

Meeting her gaze, Felix replied, "Alright, I have to go now."

After he hung up the phone, Listina frowned unhappily.

"Felix, who was that? Was it Carol again? Why can't you tell her that I'm your fiancée? Do you really

like her?"

She sounded truly upset as she spoke.

Felix lifted his hand to pinch her cheek gently.

"Don't overthink, Listina. You're the one I care about."

Listina opened her mouth to accept the spoonful of soup he offered.

"I just feel like she's too enthusiastic about you, Felix. You promised to marry me once I recover. I

wouldn't have agreed to the surgery otherwise. If you break your promise, I'd rather die."

Felix frowned instantly, and he put the bowl aside.

"Do you know how much I've sacrificed to ensure your successful surgery? Don't say things like that

again."

Seeing his anger, Listina quickly tried to appease him by holding his face and giving him a peck.

"I'm sorry, I'm just too scared of losing you. Carol is undeniably attractive and healthy. Seeing her smile

at you, I get so jealous. You won't let me tell her that I'm your fiancée. It's hard for me not to overthink."

Felix resumed feeding her the soup, his actions gentle.

"Listina, I've told you, I won't let you down. Even if there's something going on between Carol and me,

I'm just using her. Her family is wealthy, and we need money."

A flash of triumph crossed Listina's eyes, and she breathed a sigh of relief.

"Felix, I understand. Don't worry, I'll cooperate with the doctors and take care of myself."

Felix nodded, his back still bearing the marks Carol had left the previous night. Yet, here he was,

saying such things.

Carol would be heartbroken if she were here.

But did Felix care?novelbin

Their first meeting was intentionally arranged.

With his good looks and physique, it was easy for him to lure a woman in.

Although Carol was bold and outgoing, she had never truly been in love before.

The daughter of a good family was easily deceived by a man's sweet words.

Carol was sitting in the Rosewood Manor villa, rushing to the staircase to help Maja when she came

downstairs.

"Maria has prepared the food. Let's eat something first."

Maja nodded, taking a seat at the dining table.

Maria had the chef prepare a few light dishes. Coco and Rocky had just run in from outside and were

playing in the house.

This was Carol's first time seeing Rocky, and she couldn't help but praise him.

"That's a handsome dog."

"Ian gave it to me."

Upon hearing this, Carol immediately rolled her eyes.

"Well, on second thought, it's not that special."

Maja found this amusing, but her laughter soon turned bitter.

The misunderstanding this time was too complicated to be explained in a few words.

Carol wasn't hungry, so she just watched Maja eat for a while before she couldn't help but speak up.

"Maja, do you like Ian?"

This time, Maja didn't hesitate to nod.

"Ian is not worth your affection. You don't know how outrageous he was last night. I thought he went out

to look for you because he was worried, but when he saw your car crash and catch fire, he just turned

around and left. He even said that since you hurt his grandfather, it's good that you're dead. With your

death, his grandfather can rest in peace."

Maja's spoon fell to the floor, breaking in two.
