Chapter 1111

This scene took place beside a freeway, somewhere on the city outskirts, with tall, verdant trees

nearby.

Maja couldn't hear anything but saw the person in the front seat yell out.

"Mr. Patric!"

The car came to a sudden halt, and Maja, unprepared, lurched forward and bumped into the front seat.

The driver exited the car without hesitation and jumped towards Patric.

Maja seized this opportunity to slowly crawl out of the car.

She was weak, and as she climbed out, she stumbled and fell.

Her plump figure made it difficult to move, and the effects of the drugs she had taken hadn't fully worn

off. She could only crawl a few yards.

Sharp pebbles scraped her palms, drawing blood, and the car she had escaped from was suddenly hit

by another and sent flying.

The sound of a colossal explosion filled Maja's ears, but all she could think about was Patric's

expression.

It was as if the Patric she had known from long ago had returned.

Her chest tightened with pain. She knew that Patric was sick, very sick.

He had said that there was another person living within him. Perhaps it was true. People often referred

to it as schizophrenia.

Patric was still the same, but this other person within him was a madman.

Maja didn't like the idea of good people sacrificing themselves for her, so she hoped that the good

Patric wouldn't get hurt.

The pain of the pebbles scraping her skin brought her back to reality. She leaned against the guardrail

and slowly stood up.

The freeway was now congested due to the accident.

Over a hundred cars were stuck, and frustrated drivers were venting their anger.

She blended into the crowd, making herself hard to spot.

Maja was moving forward almost instinctively, her feet feeling as heavy as lead.

"Do you need some help?"

A timid voice of a young girl rang out. Perhaps she was a bit scared, so she didn't ask too loudly.

Even though Maja's beautiful face was visible, her plump figure was not. She nodded but found she

couldn't speak.

People often lose their voice momentarily when they're overly frightened.

She opened her mouth, but it was as if her vocal cords had disappeared.

The young girl helped Maja into her car and comforted her, "I know a shortcut back to the city. I'll take

you to the hospital."

The man in the front seat started to show signs of impatience.

"Why do you always have to play the saint? Can't you see you're barely keeping yourself together?

How can you still have the energy to help others?"

"Uncle, she's pregnant, and her hand is bleeding. Didn't you show me that mountain road earlier? It

wouldn't be any trouble to take it."

The young girl pleaded with the middle-aged man in the front seat.

The man sighed, "Your kindness will be lethal."

Maja couldn't speak, but she heard everything clearly.

She just wanted to get back to the city.

Meanwhile, Ian was in a helicopter. However, it was hard to spot Maja from the sky since there were

too many people below, and the exploding cars had caused panic.

He wanted to land and check, but he saw a car heading towards a small road.

He grabbed his binoculars and, using the surrounding car lights, saw a face appearing in a car window.

There was just one face.

His heart skipped a beat.

The helicopter was still hovering above, and he noticed the car was heading towards the city, towards

the hospital.

Someone was taking her to the hospital.

He lowered his gaze, and directed the helicopter to let him down.

Coincidentally, Carol's car stopped beside him, and seeing him not chasing anymore, she was puzzled.

"Mr. Raymond, why aren't you chasing? I heard there was a car accident up ahead. If it was Maja's car

that crashed, then is she?"

Ian's face was cold as he brushed past her and got into a nearby car.

"It's none of my business."

Carol was taken aback, thinking she must have misheard.

Wasn't he just frantically looking for Maja a moment ago? Why had he suddenly changed his tune?

Her phone rang at that moment. It was the people she had sent out to look for Maja. They reported thatnovelbin

the car involved in the accident was indeed the suspicious one, and it had exploded, leaving everything

in darkness.

Carol's heart clenched as she hung up, her voice trembling.

"The car that crashed was the one Maja was in, Mr. Raymond, you should come back with me."

Ian was now buckled up, rolling down the car window, his gaze icy.

"I told you. It's none of my business."

Carol was livid, "Then why were you in such a rush to get out here?"

Ian reclined in his seat, and in the privacy of the car, his eyes reddened.

"To confirm whether she was dead or not. Now that she's dead, isn't that great? My grandfather's

revenge is fulfilled. He can rest in peace."

Carol stood there, finding his words bitterly cruel.

"Ian! Is this how you treat Maja? She loved you so much! She must have been silly to love you!"

Ian laughed coldly, his hand on the steering wheel.

"Ms. Miller, let me remind you once again, Maja didn't love me. She's the type of woman who would

never fall in love with anyone."
