Chapter 894

When Maja got home, it was already 4 a.m.

The sound of crying she had heard outside the door still rattled her.

It’s not that she was super kind–hearted, but when she heard the words of Aurora, she couldn’t helpbut picture Lillian.

In reality, the wealth of a family didn’t greatly affect a child’s personality, it’s the parents‘ attitudes thatdid.

A child who’s poor but mentally strong was more resilient. Even if they fell into a dark period, as long aspeople gave them a glimmer of hope, they would keep climbing.

That night, Maja tossed and turned, unable to sleep.

She realized that her small company was carrying the expectations of a lot of people.

Wilma, Elvis, Zoey, Shawn, and Cornelia.

They had all become indispensable to her.

The heavier the burden on her shoulders, the more she had to give up.

6 a.m.

As soon as lan got back to Greenfield, someone reported that it was the Casson family that had tried tokill Maja that night.

He squinted slightly. The Casson family?

Alma? But Alma wasn’t important in the Casson family.

“Sir, it was Omar, Alma’s biological brother. Omar is highly favored by Eden Casson, With the Cassonfamily’s inheritance up in the air, it’s highly likely Omar will take over.”

The Casson family and the Raymond family were relatives, with lan even having to call Eden hisgrandfather. If he took action against the Casson family, both families would be thrown into chaos.

He furrowed his brow in thought.

“Does Omar have anything he cares about the most?”

He planned to hit them where it hurt, making them wish they were dead.

“The thing he cares about most is a woman named Cornelia, but Cornelia has already been signed toMaja’s company and is now one of her artists.”

lan immediately understood Maja’s intentions.

Valuing Cornelia’s talent was only part of it. On the other hand, Cornelia could also serve as herweapon against the Casson family.

The more Omar tried to harm Maja now, the bigger the hit he would take from Cornelia in the future.

lan leaned back in his chair, laughing at himself in a self–deprecating manner, just like he used to.

“Sir, Omar fears nothing, the things he cares about the most are probably Alma and Cornelia.”

“Find someone to deal with, Alma.”

Whether she could dodge a bullet like Maja did would depend on how capable she was.

Since Omar was a madman, there was no need to confront him directly.

“Alright, also, the mental hospital called, saying Ms. Connie has been insisting on leaving.”

When he sent Connie to the mental hospital, lan never thought about letting her out.

“Ignore her.” His tone was calm. His car had arrived at Greenfield Gardens.

But there was a woman standing outside Greenfield Gardens. When he saw the figure, a hint ofsurprise flashed in his eyes. When she turned around, his gaze turned cold.

It was Darlene.

Darlene had been waiting here all night.

Upon seeing lan’s car, she immediately jogged forward.

“Mr. Raymond.”

lan didn’t say anything, nor did he tell the driver to stop.

He had given her a million dollars that day, and they had cut off all contact since. Since Maja didn’t likehim and felt that he couldn’t compare to her first love, there was no point in using more women toprovoke her.

So, Tyler’s strategy was ineffective.

Darlene knocked on the car window, looking pitiful.

“Mr. Raymond, I’ve been waiting for you all night. I talked to Mr. Pennyfeather, but she still won’t let meact in Star Movie Group’s new drama. I told her it was your idea, but she said she’s tired of you.”novelbin

lan lowered the car window when he heard this.

This was something Maja would say, but she would only say it if the woman in front of her had saidsomething even more outrageous.

Looking at the foolish face in front of him and thinking about how he had once been involved with her,he felt disgusted. He even felt as if he had been

defiled.

Darlene was very confident in herself, thinking that lan lowering the window meant he had feelings forher.

“Mr. Raymond, I’ve been waiting for you all night; it’s so cold. Can I get in the car? I want to keep youcompany tonight.”

lan wrote her a check for half a million dollars.

“If Maja doesn’t want you to act, then don’t. She may be tired of me, but I’m not tired of her. If you havenothing to do, don’t go looking for her.”

Darlene looked at the check, once again astonished by lan’s generosity.

But people’s greed is endless. Having seen his lavishness and considering his appearance and status,Darlene wished she could stay by his side forever.

At this moment, lan had already closed the window.

“And don’t come looking for me again. We shouldn’t see each other anymore.”

His car slowly drove into Greenfield Gardens.

Darlene had been distracted by his handsome face and didn’t notice what he had said. When shecame, it seemed like he had said, Even if Maja was tired of him, he wasn’t tired of Maja?

This didn’t sound like something a noble man like lan would say. He was so charismatic that he couldhave any woman he wanted, and no one would question him even if he changed women ten times aday.

And yet he wanted a woman who was despised by everyone.
