Chapter 846

The EcoTraverse Group’s latest move to seek collaboration with a Windhelm company had stirred up awhole can of worms.

After all the big cheese of the EcoTraverse Group had always been one to keep his nose in the air, typically only keeping alliances with Windhelm companies for a fleeting six months. But in thisagreement, he’s surprisingly willing to pass up all future collaboration opportunities for the EcoTraverseGroup to the Raymond Corporation.

If lan pulled this off, the profits he’d rake in for the Raymond Corporation would be a far cry from thecompany’s initial investment.

But pulling it off would mean he’d have to pay through the nose.

The stakes were sky–high for the EcoTraverse Group this time. If lan can score a 5% stake in theEcoTraverse Group, he’d hit the jackpot. It’s like betting the company’s farm, he must be out of hisgourd. And lan, agreeing to this deal, didn’t seem to be playing with a full deck either.

It’s as if two high flying investors were duking it out, and the outcome will have a ripple effect on theeconomies of the two countries.

So when Maureen found out that lan agreed to sign the deal, she thought he’d lost his marbles.

Even if he’s in hot water with the company’s bigwigs, there’s no need to go in whole hog on such a biggamble!

Who knew what kind of game the EcoTraverse Group was playing?novelbin

She immediately went to have a chinwag with lan, but when she entered his office, he was nowhere insight.

It turned out lan had jetted off abroad at noon to sign the deal in person at the invitation of theEcoTraverse Group’s honcho.

Maureen went as white as a ghost. She tried to give lan a bell, but he wasn’t picking up.

As she left the office, she bumped into Dennis.

Dennis seemed to be on cloud nine at the moment.

“Maureen, I heard lan hopped on a plane to sign the deal?”

Dennis had been badgering Maureen for her shares, concocting all sorts of excuses.

For Maureen, the terms Dennis was offering were tempting.

But she’s known lan since he was knee–high to a grasshopper, and she just can’t stomach the thoughtof him going down this path.

“Yep.”

“That kid was always jumping the gun. The EcoTraverse Group has always kept its share structureunder wraps. If they’re proposing this deal, they must know lan won’t be able to cut. If the deal fallsthrough, lan’s stake will be cut by 20%.

This was the condition put forth by the EcoTraverse Group. If the deal went south, lan would lose 20%of his stake,

He’s already given up 10%. If he gave up another 20%, he’d be left with a measly 25% stake, making ita piece of cake for Dennis to overtake him.

It’s unheard of in the business world for the big shot of the EcoTraverse Group and lan to use theirstakes as bargaining chips.

Seeing Dennis so chuffed, Maureen had a sinking feeling that he might have a hand in this.

“Dennis, lan’s already left Greenfield, and your share is nearly enough. You’ll soon have more say inthe Raymond Corporation, and there’s no need to keep trying to knock him down.”

Dennis just kept grinning from ear to ear, seemingly not getting the drift.

“Maureen, this is lan’s choice. If the EcoTraverse Group wins, he won’t be calling the shots at theRaymond Corporation anymore.”

By then, he’ll do whatever it took to snatch up all the shares from lan.

Maureen fell silent, watching Dennis approach.

“By the way, have you made up your mind? I’m offering you a golden opportunity. Are you still notwilling to sell me your shares?”

Maureen looked a bit under the weather, pausing before she spoke.

“Dennis, give me a few more days.”

In reality, lan’s relationship with Maja had taken the wind out of Maureen’s sails. Anyone could see thatMaja was far from being wife material for him, not to mention all the trouble she’s stirred up. Any otherwoman would be a better match for lan than her.

What was really eating at Maureen was the situation with Connie. Connie was someone she watchedgrow up, and it was all because of Maja that the Raymond family was in such a pickle. Sometimes, shethought, maybe lan needed to fall flat on his face to see the light finally?

He’s got a knack for business, so even if he stumbled this time, he’d bounce back eventually. It’s justthat the cost might be steep.
