Chapter 782

After he finished talking, he took the lead and left.

As he turned the corner, he couldn’t resist sneaking a peek at her.

Maja didn’t run after him. She just looked up at Elvis and said something, then motioned for him tofollow.

Elvis nodded, and they both left from the other side.

lan’s body stiffened, and he just pursed his lips after they left.novelbin

Maja and Elvis had left the BlueSky Bar and found a café to sit in.

Elvis was fiddling with a spoon as he listened to Maja explain the Star Movie Group.

“So, what do you think? Are you interested?”

“I’ve got a female artist on my hands. But her contract is with Simstar Entertainment, and she may notwant to break that. She’s got potential.”

His words hinted that Maja should try to win the girl over!

Elvis had nurtured several top stars from the start of their careers. Calling her a potential artist meantthat she certainly had the chance to become a top–notch actress in the future.

This was exactly the talent Maja needed right now.

“OK, what’s her name?”

“Wilma.”

After finalizing the cooperation with Elvis, Maja immediately called Zoey, but no one answered.

She frowned and made a second call. Still no answer.

Immediately, she drove to where Zoey was staying.

The door of the room was ajar. The sounds of Zoey and Murray were coming from inside.

“Zoey, what do you mean? Are you questioning me just because of a few words from your boss?”

Murray’s mother was also chiming in, saying, “If you really think my son has wronged you, then breakup. We don’t necessarily need you.”

Zoey looked upset, obviously feeling wronged. She probably realized that her suspicions tonight wereunreasonable; after all, they just used the same spoon. “Murray, I’m sorry.”

Murray took a deep breath because his heart was also uneasy.

“It’s okay; don’t do this next time.”

But Murray’s mother continued to scold, saying, “You’re not even married yet, and you’re full of doubts. You used to travel a lot. Did we ever suspect that you might be up to something? My son has alwaystrusted you.”

Hearing this, Zoey felt even more guilty.

She rubbed her temples and apologized again, saying, “It’s my fault.”

Maja didn’t go in, but hearing this pair blame Zoey, she felt very uncomfortable.

She stood outside for a while, Murray’s mother still scolding.

In a moment, Zoey came out. She probably didn’t expect Maja to be there; her pupils shrank insurprise, quickly pulling Maja into the dark corner of the corridor. “Ms. Pennyfeather, why are youhere?”

Maja had guessed that Zoey might not have it good with Murray, but Zoey obviously still trusted Murray.

“Zoey, last time in the elevator, I heard them talking about you. Murray and Evelyn are a bit too close.I’ve seen her with your fiance at parties.”

Zoey went cold all over, seemingly not ready to accept this fact.

Maja pulled her out of the dark corner and sat down at a convenience store at the entrance of thecommunity.

There was only one table in the store.

Maja brought two hot drinks and placed them in front of her.

“I know it might be hard for you. You’ve known him for seven years, but he’s not sincere with you. If youkeep this relationship going, you’ll lose more.”

Zoey held the cup of hot beverage in her hand, her eyes quietly looking ahead.

“Ms. Pennyfeather, it might just be social courtesy.”

“Alright, let’s say it’s social courtesy. But the conversation they had in the elevator didn’t show anyrespect for you.”

Zoey’s head dropped lower, and she held the cup tighter.

“That’s just the way she is; she has a bad temper, but Murray has always been good to me. We’veknown each other for so many years, and I’m going to be living with Murray, not his mother.”

Maja was speechless. She was satisfied with Zoey’s work abilities but didn’t expect her to be so naivein love.

“One party is definitely problematic in a relationship that hasrit led to marriage after seven years.”

She couldn’t help but continue to advise, but Zoey just laughed, saying, “We didn’t have stable incomesbefore, and I was young. Now we’re both getting better and better, and we decided to get married aftera lot of thought.”

Zoey took out her phone and saw Maja’s two missed calls, quickly apologizing.

I was putting Murray’s little brother to sleep earlier, so I didn’t hear the phone because it was on silent.I’m sorry.”

“He has a younger brother? I thought he was an only child.”

“I thought so too, but it was only last year that I found out. His mother secretly had another child whileMurray was in college. She brought the child to our house. The kid is noisy, and he is only seven yearsold this year. I usually have my phone on silent when I’m at home. I’m sorry.”

Maja felt increasingly suspicious.

She had known Murray for seven years and only found out about his younger brother in the past year?
