Chapter 714

Maja lay still, even deliberately lifting her shoulder a bit to make it more comfortable for him.

By nine o’clock, the mall was open.

She was about to wake him up when she saw that he was already awake, like he had an internal alarmclock.

He helped her out of the car while Jeff quietly followed, carrying the stuff.

lan had never bought Christmas decorations before, at every store, he’d turn to her and ask, “Do weneed this?”

Maja had looked it up online before, so she nodded, and they ended up buying a bunch of Christmaslights.

Last night, while the city was full of fireworks, they were making love, missing all the fireworks. So, nowhe eagerly asked her, “Wanna see some fireworks?”

Probably not many women would say no to that.

Maja nodded again.

Suddenly, he placed a hand on her shoulder and said in a low tone, “I see you know exactly what tobuy, so you were just trying to appease me with that wreath, weren’t you?”

He was still holding a grudge.

Knowing she was in the wrong, Maja quickly apologized, “Sorry for the previous night.”

“Don’t do that again.”

He pinched her earlobe and then they moved on.

They took so much stuff that Jeff couldn’t carry it all, so they called in more bodyguards.

Just the fireworks filled up a whole truck.

Finally, Jeff suggested to lan, “Boss, there are companies that specialize in firework displays. You cantell them what you want to see tonight.”

Buying fireworks was fun, but it can be chaotic.

Being the perfectionist that lan was, he’d probably prefer something designed by others who hadcontrol over this sort of thing.

lan was a bit distant from Maja at that moment. After thinking it over, he nodded. Watching thefireworks with her that night sounded nice.

It’d be even better if they could reserve a nice restaurant, with the whole sky full of fireworks.

“Jeff, book that restaurant by the river. It’s the best place to watch the fireworks.”

“Okay.”

Jeff thought to himself, “Finally, the boss is showing some romance.”

After lan finished, he caught up to Maja, reached out quietly, and took her hand.

Maja had never walked through the mall holding hands like that. She paused, then lowered her head, accepting his gesture.

They were both a bit shy, like school kids..

Even though they’d made love many times, they’d never acted like that before.

lan cleared his throat, looking for a topic, “Need anything else? Anything you’re short of lately?”

She shook her head.

“What about your family? Aren’t they going to say anything about you spending Christmas with me?”

Maja froze, then calmly said, “They’ve all passed away.”

Just like that, the casual atmosphere between them evaporated.

This was the first time lan had asked about her family. He wasn’t ready for that kind of answer.

He was silent for a moment, realizing he’d picked the wrong topic, and then walked into a luxury goodsstore to lift their mood.

This was the place where Maja had bought the agarwood bracelet. The salesperson recognized herinstantly.

Such a rare agarwood bracelet, and she was lucky to find it.

“Oh, it’s you, Miss.”

The saleswoman was all smiles, “Are you buying a men’s bracelet again today?”

Her eyes rested on lan for a moment before she blushed.novelbin

“We’ve got new stock in; would you like to take a look?”

A men’s bracelet?

Hearing that, lan frowned.

She’d bought a men’s bracelet before?

For whom?

Was that for her ex–husband?

Today, Maja had no intention of buying anything. After paying lan’s rent, she was a bit strapped forcash. She still had two TV dramas to shoot, so she needed to cut back on expenses. She shook herhead, ready to leave with lan.

But lan stood still and said, “I need to buy a gift for my mom, Maja. You go check out that side first.”

Maja didn’t suspect a thing.

When she walked away, lan casually asked the saleswoman,

“How much was the men’s bracelet she bought last time?”

The saleswoman had been in the business for years and instantly recognized the accusatory tone inhis voice. She immediately realized that she might have caused trouble by mentioning that.

Maybe they were a wealthy couple and Maja had bought the bracelet for her lover. No wonder she leftso quickly, probably afraid of being found out. The saleswoman was confused. Maja’s husband was sohandsome, why would she need a lover?

lan’s gaze turned cold, “How much?”

“Sir, that’s the customer’s privacy, I can’t disclose that. I’m sorry.”

lan glanced at her name tag, and the saleswoman felt pressured. She wasn’t willing to get in trouble forsuch a small thing, so she quickly answered truthfully, “Around half a million dollars.”

Half a million! Maja, who usually lived frugally, was willing to spend half a million on a gift for a man.

lan felt a surge of jealousy, like he was choking.
