Chapter 710

The situation was what it was. No amount of talk can beat first–hand experience.

Maja could only nod in agreement.

“Off you go. You can knock off early today.”

Zoey’s face lit up with surprise.

She turned to leave, and Maja could feel her joy just from her retreating figure.

Maja let out a sigh.

At eight in the evening, Maja wrapped up her work on time.

Then she realized that lan hadn’t been in touch all day.

He had promised to be with her for a month, and knowing him, he couldn’t stay quiet for that long.

Maja checked her phone to see if she had missed his call..

But there were no missed calls from lan.

So she decided to give him a call.

It wasn’t lan who picked up, but Jeff.

“Ms. Pennyfeather.”

“Jeff, where’s Mr. Raymond?”novelbin

“The boss is on a business trip and won’t be back until next week. He’s about to catch a flight, but heasked me to tell you to decorate Greenfield Gardens. Christmas is next week.”

Maja was taken aback. She had completely forgotten about Christmas.

But who would she spend it with?

There was no one left from the Pennyfeather family. She had severed ties with her uncle inCrystalbrook Valley. Carol was going back to the Miller family for the holidays.

She realized that she had been deliberately ignoring this problem.

But now that lan had asked her to decorate Greenfield Gardens, she felt a warmth in her heart. At leastshe would have something to do on Christmas. No wonder everyone in the company seemed sohappy. The holidays were coming, and everyone was busy preparing gifts.

“I see.”

After hanging up, she stared out the window at the falling snow, unable to remember the last time shehad a meaningful Christmas.

When her father was alive, going home for Christmas meant enduring Cristina Perkins‘ sneers, so shealways found an excuse to stay at school. After starting work, she lied about being too busy to gohome. She didn’t want to see other families‘ harmony and happiness. She always felt like an outsider.

She hadn’t prepared gifts for many years and didn’t know what to get.

She looked up some ideas online and then drove to the mall. After much deliberation, she picked out aChristmas wreath.

She was about to pay but suddenly thought that lan might not like it for the beautiful villa.

In the end, she left the mall empty–handed.

As she got in the car, she worried that lan might be angry. She rubbed her eyes, got out of the car, anddecided to buy some food. At least she would have something to show for her efforts.

But as she entered the mall, she bumped into Selena.

Selena was still in the midst of a divorce with Steve, and her mental state was not good. Steve hadbeen avoiding her and only communicated through his lawyer, which made her feel even moredevastated. Seeing Maja now, Selena’s pupils constricted.

In her view, it was all because of Maja that she and Steve had ended up like this.

“Maja!”

Selena shouted and strode over with determination.

Maja was worried that she would make a scene right at the entrance of the mall, so she turned toleave.

But Selena had grabbed her hand and pointed to a children’s clothing store not far away. “Maja, you’renot still hanging onto fan, are you? I’ve told you so many times you don’t have a chance with theRaymond family. Do you see that store? You lost a child for lan, but do you see him showing anyremorse?!” Selena had hit a nerve.

Unlike before, she wasn’t hurling insults. She was just stating a fact.

It’s a somewhat cruel fact.
