Chapter 660

Fitch sat across from lan, eyeing his every reaction. He asked with a chuckle, “So, how does it feel?”

lan took off his jacket, his fingers tensing slightly, the tips involuntarily curling.

He glanced up at the dazzling lights overhead, his throat bobbing, the corners of his eyes reddened bya sudden rush of heat.

If he didn’t know that the drinks he had tonight were perfectly normal, he would actually thinksomebody had drugged him. On the other side of the hall.

Maja looked at the timid girl across from her and reintroduced herself.

“You can call me Penny. No need to be so formal.”

The thick glasses hid most of the girl’s face. She quickly looked up at Maja and then immediatelylooked down again.

The waiter came over and asked what they would like to order.

Maja placed the menu in front of the girl.

“Erlinda, take a look and see what you fancy.”

Erlinda Frost quickly looked up, glanced at the menu, saw that the cheapest set meal was $588, andher eyelashes twitched with shock.

“Ms. Penny, can we go to a different restaurant?” She was still very formal, even standing up, her thickglasses dropping to the floor in an instant. Maja saw several marks on her neck.

But Maja didn’t ask, pretending she didn’t see them.

“I’m buying. I’ve read your script, we can talk about it slowly, you don’t need to be nervous.”

Perhaps reassured by Maja’s voice, Erlinda slowly sat down again, but her lips were still trembling, clearly shocked by the prices here.

Maja remembered the script she had read near lan today and briefly mentioned it.

“I met with Professor Smith today and saw another script there about a small–time guy getting messedaround by fate and gradually turning into a murderer. This script caught the eye of the RaymondCorporation and should be turned into a suspense drama. The twists in each chapter are veryengaging.”

When the script was mentioned, Erlinda trembled even more, her hands gripping her knees tightly.

Soon, Maja heard a faint sob, the girl across from her had started to whimper.

Maja handed over a tissue.

“Erlinda, I’ve always wondered how Professor Smith could write so many scripts of different styles, each one of high quality. I’ve read your script. When you gave me the script, you didn’t even dare tolook me in the eye. I guess you’re not satisfied with this script. Since it’s a script you don’t even like, why give it to me?” For those who wrote scripts, they were like their children.

Now there was an investment opportunity in front of her, she should bring out a script she was mostsatisfied with.

But from the moment she met Maja, Erlinda showed strong restraint, unease, and fear, as if she didn’twant to come, but was forced by someone. “Erlinda, treat me as your friend. I once studied painting atthe Academy of Fine Arts of Solstice College. At that time, my professor threatened me, which almost

prevented me from graduating. Even during this period, I encountered the school’s investor whoattempted to force himself on me within the campus. It was my professor who personally pushed meout, hoping I would satisfy this investor. If I resisted, my competition eligibility and graduationqualification would be cancelled.”

Hearing this, Erlinda’s sobbing paused slightly. She looked at Maja through her glasses, her face full ofdisbelief.novelbin

Maja was speaking lightly about something so scary.

“What happened then?”

“I stopped attending classes and chose to complete my studies online. I couldn’t fight my professor, so Iawkwardly avoided him, gave up painting, and turned to interior design. You must have heard about theAcademy of Fine Arts of Solstice College. There was a time when a director was dismissed, and theinvestor Daniel was put in jail. I did that.”

Maja leaned back in her chair and handed Erlinda a hot drink.

“If you trust me, tell me what’s bothering you.”

Erlinda’s lips moved a few times, then her gaze shifted upward to the sudden appearance of a man, which startled her to her feet.

“Penny, I’ll come find you next time.”

Maja didn’t force her. After she left, Maja looked up and saw the figure above her.

It was Tan..

Why was he here again?

lan leaned forward, casting Maja entirely in his shadow.

Everyone else was blocked by the screens, leaving only the two of them.

Maja smelled alcohol.

lan asked, “How did you approach me in the first place?”

Had he lost his mind?

Maja grabbed her purse and quickly prepared to pay the bill and leave.

But as she walked out, she found that the restaurant had somehow become empty.

Was this lan’s doing? What the hell was he up to?

The chandelier in the restaurant was very bright. Maja saw him sit down in the middle of the couch, where there were several expensive potted plants.

He patted the seat next to him: “Come sit.”

Maja gripped her bag tightly, feeling a bit anxious.

“Mr. Raymond, what the hell are you up to?”
