lan was parked in the boss chair at the Raymond Corporation, with his sidekick Jeff briefing him on themeetings lined up for the week.
“We’ve been shooting Tyler’s script for a month now, about a third done. The Raymond Corporationhas been getting loads of investment offers from directors. Boss, I’ve sorted out a few decent deals foryou to check out.”
Jeff dumped a heap of files on lan’s desk. lan flipped through a few pages, then put them down andasked, “Did you send off those shoes I bought? Did she say thank you or anything?”
“She got them, I made sure the delivery guy left them at her front door. But she wasn’t home, so theshoes ended up in her storage locker.
The storage locker was pretty big, which was meant for mail and deliveries. Most people check it dailywhen they get home.
lan was fuming, but quickly cooled off. Whatever. Their deal was done, and he didn’t really care abouther anyway. From then on, they’d be nothing to each other.

The butler made a point to tell her, “Ms. Pennyfeather, Grandpa Holden wants you to chill out a bit. Thisis the fanciest cruise party in all of Greenfield, setting sail tonight and cruising the river for three days.It’s a who’s who of business bigwigs and A-list celebrities. Grandpa Holden reckons it might help youout.”
The night before, Maja had mentioned her interest in film investment while on the phone with HoldenRaymond. In film investment, it’s all about the connections.
But the Star Movie group was fresh out of connections and the higher–ups were scrambling to invest inshort films. Over the past month, most had made a tidy profit, but a few had flopped. Buildingconnections took time, and if she wasn’t leading the charge, how could she guide them?
Now, Holden was serving up an opportunity to network on a silver platter.
“Please tell Grandpa Holden I’m grateful.”
The butler gave a small smile, and then pulled out a fancy gift box, “This is a dress Grandpa Holdenpicked out for you. Just flown in from overseas this morning, one of a kind. It’s a gift for you.”
The old man had really treated her well. Maja had no regrets about their three–month deal. It was theleast she could do for him.
The butler added, “Grandpa Holden also said you’re going as Herbert’s protégé. If you don’t want toclaim the Raymond family name, you don’t have to let anyone know who you really are. It’ll makethings easier when you leave in two months.”
Holden had really thought of everything. Maja thanked the butler profusely.
Before he left, he added, “A driver from Rosewood Manor will be here to take you to your destinationsoon. The makeup team will also be here shortly.”
Maja waited about fifteen minutes at Rosewood Manor. The top–tier makeup team was right on time.She had her makeup done while going over some documents with Zoey.
Zoey arrived quickly and handed her the documents quietly. As Maja voiced her thoughts and gaveinstructions for the next three days, she spotted a photo of Zoey with a man on Zoey’s phone screen.
“Is this your boyfriend?”
Zoey blushed a bit and nodded.
Maja had a good memory, the man in the photo looked like a good guy.
After reviewing eight documents and getting her makeup done, Zoey complimented her, “Ms.Pennyfeather, you look gorgeous.”
Maja’s makeup wasn’t over the top, it was just elegant. The tiara on her forehead really set off herbeauty. She’d never worn anything like it, so she asked the makeup team.
“Isn’t this a bit much?”
The makeup team explained right away, “Ms. Pennyfeather, a cruise party calls for this kind of get–up.We’ve actually held back a bit when doing your makeup. You’ll see when you get there.”
Maja trusted them. After all, they were hired by Grandpa Holden.
Her dress was a fringed diamond dress, strapless. She also wore a trendy diamond chest chain. Thechest chain extended from her chest to her neck, sparkling against her smooth skin and drawingattention. It was heart–stopping.
Maja had never dressed up that much before. After giving Zoey a few more instructions, she left withthe driver.
Arriving at the cruise ship, she saw just how massive it was. As she walked down the stairs, shespotted several A–list actresses below. They were posing for a bunch of cameras. Only A–listers wereinvited to that cruise party.
Maja turned away quickly when she saw the cameras, but they still caught her silhouette. Even just herback was enough to draw attention.
“Who’s that? Why didn’t she walk the red carpet?”
“Her back is so beautiful!”
The cameras all turned up to capture Maja’s silhouette.
Maja was oblivious. She handed her invite to the person at the entrance to check.
Before they could finish, she heard Tyler’s voice from behind, “lan, I brought you here tonight to takeyour mind off things, maybe check out some babes. Haven’t you had enough of Penny? Time to switchit up.”
