Chapter 553

Ferris was already spreading the news about over–working his employees to death online, and it wasgetting some buzz. Maja’s name wasn’t mentioned up until then, but if Ferris kept going on like that, hername would be all over the net when the noise got louder.

After the cops and Ferris‘ people left, Maja took Zoey and started tailing Ferris in the evening. Insteadof going straight home after work, Ferris went to another house which he had rented. As soon as thedoor opened, he hurriedly rushed to embrace someone inside.

“Baby, I’ve missed you.”

The house was on the ground floor with open windows and even a small courtyard. Compared to May’streatment at the Pennyfeather’s, she seemed to be the apple of Ferris’s eye.

Ferris was no spring chicken, over forty, and he was still getting it on by the window.

Maja had had enough and told Zoey to take pictures of them. Zoey also felt nauseous, especiallythinking about how Ferris hadn’t given May a dime all those years. The anger boiled over, “This mandeserves to be punished!

After her comment, Maja chuckled, “There are plenty of men like this. Most women who have childrendon’t want to divorce, even if they’re being abused, as they just want to provide a complete home fortheir kids.”

“Mr. Pennyfeather, I really can’t understand their thinking. If I were their child, I wouldn’t want to live in afamily with domestic violence and infidelity.”

Maja looked back into the room. The location was close to the road, probably cost a pretty penny.

Zoey was still young, not married, and still angry, “I even blame my mom for not fighting back, for notrunning away, so I can’t understand these women.”

“If you did understand, you’d be one of them. Essentially, they can’t accept their failed marriages, andthe kids are just an excuse.”

Unwilling to face a failed marriage, unwilling to face public opinion, children became an excuse not todivorce for people like them. But in the end, it’s all about not wanting to give up.

Zoey took many pictures, her face full of anger, “I even suspect that May was murdered, and Ferriswants to use her body to extort the Pennyfeather group.”

Maja looked at the couple still making love in the house, feeling sick to her stomach, and even a bit likethrowing up, “Let’s keep investigating. So far, we’ve only found out about Ferris’s affairs and domesticviolence.”

“Mr. Pennyfeather, there’s news from that side. Ferris’s two sons haven’t been to work recently, they’vebeen staying home, but May’s body had already been

cremated.”

The body was cremated so quickly, which indicated that there must be something fishy going on. Andthey only came to demand money after the cremation. Maja lowered her eyes and rubbed her temples,“Let’s get the PR department to suppress the news online for now, and don’t make it too big. Keep upwith the police investigation and send these pictures to the police to start looking into Ferris’s affairsand domestic violence.”

After a series of position adjustments at the Pennyfeather group, every department was finally well–organized and responsive, just as Maja had hoped for.

“Good.”

Zoey drove away from there, Maja looked out the window at the disappearing scenery, casually asking,“You and your boyfriend have been in a relationship for seven years, why haven’t you gotten marriedyet?”

Zoey’s face lit up with happiness, “Actually, we’re engaged. But before I joined the Pennyfeather group,I was very busy with work and had to travel a lot, so we never had time to discuss our wedding. Afterjoining the Pennyfeather group, my boss was a bit conservative, so things didn’t go very smoothly. Itwasn’t until you came that I felt hopeful about life.”

Maja found it amusing, “So now you’re going to start discussing wedding plans with your fiancé?”

“Yes, we’re going to start discussing it, and we’ll definitely send you an invitation when the time comes.”

“Alright, I’ll be there.”

Their mood lightened a bit, but when Maja returned to Rosewood Manor, she was still a bit depressed. She took Coco for a walk; it had been a while since they had

a walk.

On the other side.

lan was sitting in his hospital bed while Fitch was talking to him, “The people who came after you havea very mysterious background. When things went south, they left the country immediately and probablysneaked in without leaving any identification. I suspect they’re from an overseas organization, probablythey are after Eric’s stuff. Remember the bracelet Carlene gave you? My people have checked it out,it’s just a regular bracelet, no secrets. But the other party may have received some information, that’swhy they made such a move.”

“Two groups of people came to kill me.”

Fitch nodded, hesitating before saying, “The other group was more brutal, they’re sent by your uncleCarl Raymond. You’ve beaten Lingery Raymond to a pulp, he needs help to go to the bathroom now,you think he’s not mad?”

“Lingery Raymond is crippled?”novelbin

“Not completely, but your kicks have affected his excretory function, as a result he’ll need to usediapers from now on.”

lan laughed, “Is it that serious?”

Seeing him laugh, Fitch knew he must have done it on purpose. He had been in the squad, of course,he knew how to humiliate a man. The Raymonds must hate him to the care for his actions.

“For Penny, you’re so ruthless, the other members of the Raymond family will probably come afteryou.”

lan leaned back, unbothered, “They’ve always been after me, just didn’t dare to do it openly. Half of theassassination attempts I’ve experienced since childhood were their doing. But my brother was aroundthen, they didn’t dare to be so blatant. After my brother left, they turned their sights on me.”
