Chapter 551

Maja just hung up with lan when Zoey walked in.

“Ms. Pennyfeather, the big wigs are waiting. They’re wavering over the change in direction for thePennyfeather group.”

But since the lion’s share of the stocks was held by Maja, she could now call the shots in the company.

The other shareholder in the company was the HR director Zoe, 30 years old, who previously had beena non–entity in the company, just playing it safe by not pissing anyone off as director. His only claim tofame was that he never made the headlines for the wrong reasons, just a smart guy, that’s it.

Maja walked into the boardroom, greeted by a bunch of new faces who all stood up to welcome her, only daring to sit down after she did.

She looked calm and cool, asking everyone, “Have you all reviewed the plans?”

Everyone started looking at each other, and finally someone plucked up the courage to say, “Mr.Pennyfeather, we’ve all seen the plans, but isn’t it a bit risky for the Pennyfeather group to suddenlyswitch to entertainment business? We’re in the paint business, we know nothing about entertainment.”

“Guys, if I hadn’t found partnership opportunities with Silverstone Enterprises and Elite EdgeConsortium, how long do you think the Neilian Group would have lasted?” Maja retorted.

Silence fell over the room. At that time, the Neilian Group had already been bought out by Carlene, who had the nerve to swan around the building. The Neilian Group had gone through a series ofupheavals, and it was only in the last couple of days that the list of executives had been finalized.

Maja gave them an answer, “Without me, the Neilian Group wouldn’t have lasted a month. Now I haveall the shares, I have full control over this company. I will have Zoey issue a series of tasks, there willbe assessments for everyone, and anyone who fails to meet the standards can pack their bags. Also, when I say we’re switching to entertainment, I don’t mean the Neilian Group will completely pivot toentertainment, we still have a lot to learn about this industry. So I’ve made a test investment in a movie,Tyler’s script, within six months, the return on investment should be at least ten times, much faster thanwhat we could get from paint.

“You guys are here because I hired you, and your job is to follow my lead. Your salaries have increasedtenfold, at this level, you normally need ten years of working experience to earn this salary, anyobjections?”novelbin

Indeed, the reason why these people were willing to stand by Maja was because she offered irresistiblesalaries.

“Our business has been hit hard over the last six months, now we can only look for other solutions. When my father was in charge, even though he managed every production line strictly, I still foundmany problems, like some departments being overstaffed. Take HR for example, they’re onlyresponsible for personnel transfers, they don’t need to participate in product development or overtime. However, due to the company’s culture of overtime, HR has been working overtime for years. In fact, many of them have finished their work by the afternoon. By this logic, we could cut two–thirds of theworkforce in HR department.”

After Maja finished speaking, she saw Zoey furrow his brows slightly.

“But, I have no plans to make cuts. I just want those idle employees in each department to betransferred to other positions. Currently, our investment in entertainment is still in a trial phase, I’ve hadZoey register a new company. Any executives who are willing to take charge of the new company’s

business can volunteer, and then start recruiting from the various departments. I’ve already named thenew company, it’s called Star Movie group.”

Maja’s idea was straightforward. Currently, the newly registered company was not completelyindependent, salaries needed to be paid from the Neilian Group’s finance department.

However, the business that Star Movie group was responsible for was completely different from theNeilian Group. The Neilian Group would stick to producing paint, but would no longer blindly expandtheir production lines. Star Movie group would start investing in entertainment, venturing into theentertainment industry to earn profits.

“Guys, even though this is my first time running a company, I understand one thing, when there’s anopportunity to profit, we should grasp it together. If Star Movie group becomes successful in the future, you’ll definitely get a share of the pie.”

Maja’s offer to the executives was generous, her words were not arrogant at all, you could even saythey were heartfelt.

Who doesn’t have dreams and ambitions when they’re young? Now everyone was excited by herwords.

“Mr. Pennyfeather, where will the office of Star Movie group be located?”

Maja pointed to the floor beneath her feet.

“The top floor will be the office for Star Movie group from now on. The executives of the Neilian Groupwill move their offices down a floor. But, I will review all the documents from both the Neilian Group andStar Movie group. Those who are willing to join Star Movie group can start choosing the movies theywant to invest in. Our current funds are limited, we can’t invest in big productions. But in the next few

years, the short film market will skyrocket, the return on investment may be hundreds of times over. I’mgiving each of you five million as initial investment capital. During the investment process, you’ll notonly gradually understand this industry, but also start networking with actors. Perhaps the small–timeactors you meet now will become top stars in a few years. Entering this industry, you guys need to bewilling to take risks.”

“Mr. Pennyfeather, we’re willing to work with you!”

“Yeah, let’s work together!”

Maja looked at these enthusiastic faces, gave a small smile, “Let’s get the staff to start setting up theoffice, the executives staying with the Neilian Group will move their offices down.”

So, the moment the talk was over, the place started buzzing.
