Chapter 490

lan spoke so earnestly that for a moment Tyler doubted, wondering if he was overthinking or if maybelan didn’t really care about Maja.

“Alright, if it’s just for fun, then don’t drown your sorrows so much.”

“I’m not.”

lan shot back, then glanced at Maj? again.

She was sitting a bit far away; all he could see was her head bowed in concentration, as if the noisearound her didn’t concern her.

“She’s not all that.”

His heart ached again.

Tyler found it amusing; he turned his head, and a smile tugged at his lips. He composed himself andturned back around.

“Indeed, there are many more beautiful and talented women in Greenfield.”

“Hmm.” lan was even more upset.

He put down his drink, leaned back, and looked away from her.

Maja was undisturbed throughout and only packed up hersketchpad when it was over.

Samuel leaned in; their heads were close.

“Finished?”

“Hmm.”

Samuel glanced at the sketch, eyebrows raised in surprise.

He knew her drawing skills were good, but he didn’t expect her drawings to be so exquisite.

It was lifelike, even adding a hint of charm to him.

“Nice drawing.”

“As long as you’re satisfied.”

“Speaking of which, I’ve done you such a big favor, don’t you think I’m getting the short end of the stickby only getting two drawings?”

Maja felt the same way, so she immediately promised, “As long as you need me to draw, I won’t delay.”

Samuel liked Maja’s straightforwardness; he pulled her into his arms and said, “Okay, it’s a deal; I’lltake you home.”

“Mr. Brown, that won’t be necessary.” Maja struggled free: “And you don’t need to invest too mucheffort in me.”

She was advising Samuel to shift his focus.

Samuel glanced at lan, who was not far away, his face hidden in the darkness, his expressionunreadable.

“Alright, I won’t force you; you can go ahead.”

Maja stood up, handed the drawing to Samuel, took her sketchpad, and left.

As she was about to reach the end of the corridor, she heard footsteps behind her. She thought Samuelwas following her. She was about to say. something, but the next moment she was pulled into a nearbybooth.novelbin

She was startled; through the window on the booth door, the light from the corridor shone in, and sheclearly saw lan’s face.

This booth was dark, only lit by the light from the window.

Maja frowned. “Mr. Raymond?”

lan’s fingers opened her collar; there were no new marks, and the previous marks had alsodisappeared completely.

Maja wanted to push his hand away, but he picked her up and leaned her against the wall withouthesitation.

Maja wanted to struggle but remembered she still owed him five times.

But this place was too exposed.

Her cheeks turned red with nervousness, and her breathing became ragged.

Ian undid her clothes without hesitation, just holding her.

“Ah, it hurts.”

She couldn’t help but cry out.

He kissed her lips fiercely.

Regardless of whether she was really in pain, the thud of the door echoed.

Maja’s bag had fallen on the floor, and when lan held her waist, he suddenly realized she seemed tohave lost weight.

He furrowed his eyebrows, whispering, “You’ve lost weight:”

If he hadn’t said that, it would have been okay, but once he did, Maja would think of the lost child andfeel pain throughout her body.

“It hurts, it hurts, it hurts.”

She was patting lan’s back.
