Chapter 462

His grip tightened, and Maja suddenly felt as if all the oxygen had been sucked out of the room. Shecouldn’t utter a single word, and a layer of sweat formed on her forehead.

lan couldn’t stand her. He was so repulsed that he didn’t even want to figure out why her face hadchanged so drastically. She now had thick bangs and glasses, and even her clothes had becomeincredibly ordinary.

He chalked up all her actions that he couldn’t understand to her intentionally putting on a show.

“Having fun?”

His veins were bulging on his wrist, clearly exerting a lot of force.

Maja felt like she might actually die at any moment as he choked her.

She looked at lan’s beautiful hands.

Just a few days ago, these beautiful hands were around her waist, and these lips were whisperingsweet things to her.

She was beating at his hand, feeling as if she was about to suffocate.

“Maja, I heard Neil is sick. If you don’t want anything bad to happen to him, you’d better behave fromnow on. I hate it when people put on a show.”

His tone was colder than ever, and the way he looked at her was as if he were looking at a corpse.

As soon as he let go, Maja slumped down like a sack of potatoes, gasping for breath. She even thoughtshe could taste blood in her throat.

lan didn’t even glance at her and went straight inside.

Because of Herbert’s interruption, Edith had fainted from anger and was being taken to the hospital. The Shepard family was busy ushering all the guests out.

As for Carlene, she was a wreck.

Seeing lan, she ran to him, bawling, as if he were her lifeline.

She tried to run into lan’s arms.

But strangely enough, Maja’s face popped up in lan’s mind. He wrinkled his brows and stepped aside.novelbin

Carlene ended up hugging air, and Ryan sauntered over.

“lan, all the drama’s over; why are you just getting here?“.

Ryan had been enjoying the spectacle, never expecting Maja to be so articulate and embarrassCarlene in front of everyone.

Carlene was dressed to the nines tonight, hoping to outshine the ordinary–looking woman. But sheended up being ridiculed and even labeled a homewrecker.

Feeling utterly humiliated, Carlene clung onto lan’s arm, crying.

The rest of the Shepard family noticed lan and were about to approach him. After all, Carlene wasseriously embarrassed tonight. If she was going to survive in this circle in the future, she needed lan togive her some dignity.

But lan looked pissed. He had to deal with the irrational Olivia in Crystalbrook Valley and then comeback to deal with a woman like Maja. He was fed up like never before.

Carlene was still crying.

“lan, she was way out of line; she actually called me a homewrecker.”

Ryan listened, thinking to himself that she was indeed a homewrecker, so why was she crying about it?

Maja might not be good–looking and seem plain, but she always managed to hold her head high. Andthere was something about her aura that was quite influential. Ryan always felt Maja and lan weresimilar in some ways.

“lan, maybe you should consider taking over the Pennyfeather family’s company. Let’s see how shecan still be so arrogant.”

Carlene spat out these words in anger, feeling incredibly embarrassed.

And it was at an event hosted by the Shepard family, no less. The Shepards would surely question herlater on whether she was still on bad terms with lan; otherwise, why would someone else’s wife be sobrazen?

She felt so humiliated!

targlanced at her with no intention of taking over a small company like the Penny feather family.

“You go rest upstairs first.”

Carlene, fearful that her makeup had been ruined by her tears and that she looked ugly, didn’t want lanto see her like this, so she nodded sadly.

lan rubbed his temples, and those who were still lingering to watch the drama quickly dispersed at hisarrival.

No one dared stick around to watch lan’s drama.

He looked like he was about to explode, and the next one to suffer might be someone’s company.

Ryan stood by lan’s side.

“lan, Ms. Shepard was indeed quite embarrassed tonight. If you want to appease her, why not haveyour wife come and apologize?”

Ryan owed Carlene a favor from last time when he wanted Rita to return to work at the RaymondCorporation, so he couldn’t avoid speaking up for her

now

lan didn’t respond. Just thinking about how Maja had stirred up a mess at Greenfield made his faceeven colder.

“lan, should we go to the hospital to see Grandma?”

“You go see her.”

In his view, Edith was partly to blame for blowing this out of proportion.

And now she had even fainted and been hospitalized, making her the talk of the town tonight.

Everyone knew that Edith and Holden’s relationship had been in name only for a long time, and it wasno secret in their circle.

Outside, Maja slowly got up, feeling a fiery pain in her throat as if she was about to cough up blood.

Samuel appeared at her side, helping her get up.

“I’ll take you home.”

“Thank you.”

Her throat was completely hoarse, probably because of lan’s chokehold.
