Chapter 455

Maja had no clue about the mishap that had befallen the Elston family and was hastily making her wayback to Greenfield.

lan had to stay behind to discuss some beach development projects, so she had to go it alone.

She was a bit worried about RosenGarden, wondering if any sneaky thieves had broken in.

After hours of driving, she made a beeline for RosenGarden.

Coco was still snoozing in the house, with some pros coming by the past few days to look after it.

Maja did a quick sweep of the house, and once she was sure no one had broken in, she let out a sighof relief.

She immediately went online and bought a few surveillance devices, one for the front door, one for theliving room, and a few for other places, just to keep an eye on things..

The house didn’t have any valuable stuff; the only thing of value was a birthday gift she had receivedearlier.

She had no idea what was tucked inside the blank notebook.

Frowning, she took the box and headed straight to Rosewood Manor.

But Rosewood Manor was buzzing with activity. Her stuff was being thrown out one by one.

Maria tried to stop them, but the bodyguards were being total jerks.

Seeing her come back, Maria rushed over.

“Ms. Pennyfeather, it’s Grandma Edith’s goons. They’re trying to kick you out of Rosewood Manor.”

Almost all of Maja’s stuff had been thrown out, which wasn’t much to begin with.

She walked into the house, saw the bodyguards still at it, and was pissed off.

“Stop!”

But the bodyguards paid her no mind, and Maria was all anxious.

Ms. Pennyfeather, maybe I should call the old man.”

But Maja didn’t agree, instead asking, “Where are the Rosewood Manor bodyguards? Does onlyGrandma Edith have bodyguards?”

Maria quickly called over the bodyguards, but they didn’t dare offend Grandma Edith’s people.

Maja found a chair, sat down, and had Maria get the deed to the house.

“Rosewood Manor was given to me by Grandpa Holden as a premarital gift. Since when does ourcountry allow a stranger to kick out the owner? Tell Grandma Edith, if she keeps this up, I won’t holdback.”

The bodyguards were taken aback by Maja’s commanding presence, and seeing that Maja also hadher own bodyguards, they had no choice but to beat

1. it.

Meanwhile, over at Raymond Mansion, Carlene was having tea with Edith. Carlene was making a realeffort to suck up to her, so she often came over these days.

“Edith, you said someone sent you a replica of that painting?”

Edith gave a cold laugh.

“It’s that cunning wife of lan’s. She’s leagues ahead of you.”

Carlene put on a magnanimous face.

“Maybe she’s in a hurry because lan doesn’t want to be with her. Now that you’re back, Edith, sheprobably thinks she can win lan over by sucking up to.

you.”

Edith held Carlene’s hand and patted it comfortingly.

“Carlene, you know you’re my favorite. Once you give lan a child, you’ll definitely have the upper hand.”

Her words were subtle, hinting at Carlene’s desire to get involved with lan. As long as she gotpregnant, she would have the upper hand.

Carlene had thought about this before, but her past pride wouldn’t let her swallow her ego..

After all, she was lan’s first girlfriend, and they had known each other for so many years.

“Edith, lan’s current wife is too desperate. She probably heard that lan saved me from the fire and hasbeen by my side, so she feels cornered.”

These days, Carlene had been going around saying she was the one lan saved.

So now, everyone in their circle was more convinced that she was lan’s true love.

Edith was about to say something when the bodyguards came back, all covered in dust..

“Grandma Edith, Ms. Penny feather said the deed to Rosewood Manor is in her name. We have noright to throw her stuff out. She also told us to tell you, if you continue causing trouble, she won’t holdback.”

Edith had hoped that Maja would come begging her by the afternoon at the latest. But hearing this, sheslammed her hand on the table.

“Did she really say that?”

Back at Raymond Mansion, the woman had been utterly disrespectful.

And now she had the audacity to act so arrogant!

“Fine! I’d like to see how that woman is going to ‘not hold back‘! You guys go to the Pennyfeather familyand ask them how they raised their daughter!” Carlene watched this unfold and almost burst outlaughing.

It seemed lan’s current wife wasn’t so scary after all. She’d screw herself over!

She quickly tried to comfort her, saying, “Edith, don’t be angry.”

But her comfort only made Maja seem more disrespectful.

“Carlene, you go home. Your job is to get along well with lan and get pregnant as soon as possible!”

A hint of a smile played on Carlene’s lips.

After she left, Edith was so mad she wanted to swear.

“Go! I want that woman to come begging me in tears!”

When Maja received a call from home, she was still at Rosewood Manor, having her things movedback into the house.

Hearing that Edith had sent people to stir up trouble at her house, a sharp look flashed in her eyes.

She couldn’t take it anymore!

Edith thought that by the afternoon at the latest, Maja would come begging her.

But then she found herself in a bind when she received a court summons.

The summons accused her of maliciously damaging someone else’s personal property.

Edith was pushing seventy, and when she received the summons, she was somewhat baffled.

Maja just slapped Edith with a lawsuit. No kidding!novelbin
