Chapter 442

Early in the morning the next day, Maja got a call from Maria, who was babbling about Selena showingup at Rosewood Manor.

“Ms. Pennyfeather, Ms. Casson is throwing a fit and demanding you come back right now.”

Whenever Selena paid a visit, it was never a good sign.

Why was she poking around, looking for trouble?

No matter how much she tried to keep a low profile in front of Selena, she was never liked. It was betterto avoid her.

“Ms. Maria, just tell her I’m swamped with work. I really don’t have the time.”

Work was just an excuse, but after hanging up, she actually got a call from Mr. Felton. He told her thatthe cherry wood flooring was available in three batches. He even sent her a video asking whichbatch’she wanted..

“Penny, you’re one lucky duck. One batch is a customer return, and two are clearance items found inthe warehouse. All are top–notch, even better than the returned batch. Have a look at the video.”

But videos could be deceiving, so Maja responded, “How about this? I’ll head out now and go straightto Crystalbrook Valley to handpick the goods. Is that okay?”

This kind of return was rare, and probably hundreds of others were waiting for it.

Mr. Felton had promised it to her last time, and with lan’s help, he had to reserve it for her.

He agreed.

Maja didn’t dare delay. She packed up and immediately drove to Crystalbrook Valley.

By the time she arrived, it was already noon.

She inspected the batches one by one, eventually choosing the highest quality batch from theclearance items, placed the order on the spot, and had the workers déliver it to Greenfield.

Once the cherry wood flooring issue was resolved, she finally breathed a sigh of relief.

She had intended to head back to Greenfield that night, but then she remembered the task Neil hadgiven her: finding Lillian’s child.

Lillian had given birth in Crystalbrook Valley, and the hospital had records of this.

Reluctantly, she went to the hospital. But because the incident happened over twenty years ago, thehospital’s records were a mess. The recent ten years were arranged by year, but the previous oneswere all over the place. She had to search through each record on the shelf.novelbin

Maja spent three hours searching, her eyes almost blurry, and still found nothing.

When she was about to check the last row, her stomach started growling.

Just then, lan called.

Maja was unaware that lan had sent ointment to RosenGarden.

“Where are you?”

“I’m in Crystalbrook Valley.”

Hearing her say “Crystalbrook Valley“, she felt the atmosphere over the phone instantly turn icy.

She was about to say that she came here for the Greenfield Gardens business, but lan paused for amoment and said coldly, “Your leg has healed? You’re so eager to run to meet your husband?”

Only then did Maja remember that Nathan was also in Crystalbrook Valley.

The call was abruptly hung up.

Maja listened to the dial tone, furrowing her brows.

Just then, as she looked down, she spotted the hospital record from that time. Her eyes lit up, and sheimmediately took the names of the two nurses to

inquire.

But what was strange was that not long after Lillian gave birth, all the doctors involved in the deliveryresigned.

All of them, without exception.

Maja furrowed her brows.

If it was just because they had mixed up the babies, everyone resigning seemed a bit over the top.

There must be other reasons.

But the hospital staff had changed several times since then, and those who had worked there at thetime all claimed ignorance.

Other than confirming that this wasn’t just a simple case of mixing up babies, Maja didn’t find any otherclues.

After a whole day of going through records, she was both tired and hungry. Finally, she arrived atRiverside Haven.

This place was originally for top–tier bosses, but after the bug incident at the hotel last time, Majadecided to give it a try.

Luckily, the staff recognized her and prepared a room for her.

Ever since lan found out that Maja had gone to Crystalbrook Valley, his mood had turned icy.

That night, he went to Grandma Edith’s. Grandma Edith was talking to him, but her gaze was actuallyon someone else.

lan and Edith weren’t close, as Edith favored Eric and always harshly criticized lan after praising Eric.

“Eric is outstanding in everything he does, and his character is top–notch.”

“lan, if you were half as mature as Eric, the Raymond family would be fortunate

“Eric received his education domestically. Do you know how difficult that is? It’s completely differentfrom you studying abroad all the time.”

As long as lan remained silent, Edith would immediately pick up her phone and start calling her friends.

“lan is too silent, too few words. Not at all like Eric. Don’t praise him; he might become arrogant.”

“Tonight, I asked lan what he wanted to eat. I said I could cook personally, but he said he wanted thechef’s cooking. So ignorant. When have I ever cooked? If Eric were here, he would definitelycompliment me.”

It was clear that Edith favored Eric, and lan had known this since he was a kid. This kind of belittlingeducation method would make anyone uncomfortable.
