Wendy felt as if every bone in her body had been extracted, her grip on the smartphone weakening as she scrolled down thescreen, tears streaming down her face.

The Bennitt family were still knocking on her door.

"Wendy, you seen what's going on online? The Bennitt family stock took another nosedive. You really should make a publicapology; what you did was out of line."

"There's been over half a million nasty comments online, and the shareholders are upset. If you don't speak up soon, the higher-ups might start investigating our family.”

Wendy hugged her knees, her shoulders trembling relentlessly."| won't apologize! | will not apologize to that wretch!"Hearing this, the person outside her door felt a surge of irritation. What time were these for throwing a childish tantrum!

"Fine, if you won't apologize, the Bennitt family will have to announce your expulsion from the family. Your actions will no longerbe our concern. You'll be on your own.”

Family bonds meant little in the grand scheme of things, and Wendy had an older brother to think about. His standing in thefamily was now at risk because of her actions, and it was natural for her parents to start weighing their options.

Wendy stared in disbelief, unsure how to begin crying. How could they do this? When she had first returned home, everyoneadored her.

When they learned of her engagement to Fitch, they all congratulated her. But now, everything had changed.

She flung the door open and ran downstairs only to find most of the Bennitt family members gathered there, all wearing grimexpressions.

Wendy was no longer the untouchable young lady, but a girl wiping away her tears."I'll apologize. I'll do it right now."

Being cut from the Bennitt family meant her credit cards would be frozen. With so many people against her, she'd be lucky tododge rotten eggs and garbage if she ended up on the streets.

But after her declaration, not a single person responded. A bad feeling washed over her, and she cautiously reached out to graspher mother's sleeve, only to have her move away.

"You said you wouldn't apologize, remember? The Bennitt family have already made a public statement disowning you. Youshould pack your things and leave."

Wendy's pupils contracted in shock as she stumbled backward. She looked at the familiar faces that now seemed so alien.Weren't they her family? How could they discard her so quickly?

Now truly frightened by their coldness, Wendy fell to her knees, shaking all over.novelbin

"Please, don't do this. | beg you all. I'll apologize to Maja, okay? I'll tweet it right now, a public apology."But their faces remained icy.

"Besides apologizing to Maja, you'll need to apologize to the family of that international student who died abroad. Did you knowthat just ten minutes ago, the student's parents dug up the old records and publicly accused you of bullying?"

A family had spent over two decades raising a brilliant child, pinning all their hopes on them, scrimping and saving to send themabroad for a better education, only to have them commit suicide.

Back then, the incident barely made a ripple, thanks to the Bennitt family's interference. Online, there was no suspicion, andpeople even criticized the fragile psyche of the student, blaming her for not considering their parents’ feelings before taking theirlife in a foreign land.

Now that the case had resurfaced, the internet was learning of the true torment the student had endured.

If the Bennitt family didn't distance themselves from Wendy now, the stocks would likely plummet further in response to publicoutrage.

The Bennitt family were visibly done with Wendy. If only she had contentedly married Fitch instead of harassing Zoey andsnatching her dog, none of this would have happened. But she had to look for trouble.
