Chapter 1407

Beck wanted to ask why she didn't come to Judith's aid, but then something stopped him. His lips

quivered, but no words came out.

After all, Judith had treated Maja terribly, even causing her to lose her sight.

If Maja chose to save her, it was out of kindness. If not, it was her right. Who was to judge her actions?

Judith's grim fate seemed to be written in the stars.novelbin

Maja, sensing Beck's gaze, lifted her eyes to meet his, offering a brief smile.

"Mr. Sanders, it's been a while."

Beck froze for a moment, that familiar warmth flooding back.

He'd taken a shine to Maja from their very first meeting, and that hadn't changed a bit.

Before he could make small talk, Maja's cellphone rang. It was her mentor, Herbert.

Herbert, when in search of inspiration, would often lock himself away until he produced a piece he was

satisfied with. Only then would he reconnect with the outside world.

The last time Maja had seen him was in Greenfield, before Ian even knew who she really was.

A flash of excitement crossed her eyes as she stood up.

"Herbert?"

"Maja, are you in North America now?"

Herbert sounded overjoyed. "Are you free right now?"

Maja thought for a second. She and Ian were set to travel in a couple of days, so she had time today

and tomorrow.

"Yes, I'm available this afternoon. We can meet."

Herbert beamed, promptly sending her the address.

After explaining to Ian, he recalled who Herbert was, though somewhat concerned.

"I'll have someone drive you."

"Okay."

As Maja got into the car, she felt a twinge of guilt. Herbert used to check her progress, but with

everything that had happened recently, she hadn't picked up a paintbrush in months.

Herbert had always boasted to others about his brilliant protégé, hoping she'd follow this path.

She sighed deeply.

At five in the afternoon, she was about to arrive at the rendezvous with Herbert.

Meanwhile, Herbert was already waiting in a private dining room, sitting across from Arlene and Dylan.

They were exceedingly polite, Herbert's artwork was simply priceless.

Arlene's eyes flickered coldly as she realized Maja was on her way. She'd arranged this meeting with

Herbert specifically to lure Maja out.

If Maja stayed in the fighting arena, Ian would protect her well, and the Sanders family would struggle

to touch her.

But if Maja were out alone, it was their chance.

And with Beck heading to the arena to find Ian, Maja was likely on her own—a perfect opportunity.

Arlene thought of two videos she had seen, and she couldn't wait for Maja to meet her end.

That woman had stolen Judith's beloved and caused her such misfortune!

Arlene took a deep breath, grateful she'd met Herbert at various exhibitions and had arranged to

purchase one of his paintings. This set up the meeting right after Herbert had finished his seclusion.

A smile played at the corner of her lips, her demeanor perfectly composed.

"I've always heard about your exceptional student, but never had the chance to see her work at the

exhibitions."

"Penny's had a lot to deal with, and there was some family trouble a few months back. I called her over,

and it's a good opportunity for her to attend tonight's exhibit," Herbert replied.

Arlene nodded. "It's good for the young to gain experience. Dylan, it's about time for that lady to arrive.

Why don't you go welcome her?"

She sent Dylan away on purpose.

Dylan loathed Maja to the bone. Once he had her, he'd know exactly what to do.

The entire restaurant was booked, ensuring Maja's fate the moment she stepped in.

Arlene's heart was filled with scornful laughter. With Beck blocking them from Augus, they had to act

fast against the person responsible for Judith's demise.

"Mother, I understand. Herbert, please excuse me."

Dylan stood, his expression icy. Just the thought of Maja made him physically ill.

He paced to the lobby, glancing at the grand clock on the wall, his eyes darkening.

Ten minutes later, his men reported Maja's arrival.
