Chapter 1337

Ian had just pieced it together when the realization hit him like a cold blast.

"So, Mr. Sanders suspects that the lady who vanished on that trip to Greenfield was replaced by the

real Arlene, and there’s someone pulling her strings, right? And the child she brought back isn’t your

actual daughter neither; the woman you loved and your born daughter both disappeared?"

Augus rubbed his temples with a pained expression, his voice drained of strength.

“Yes, I kept blaming myself, thinking that our love had just faded. But when the truth dawned on me, I

felt a chill down my spine. By the time I wanted to start digging into it, too much time had passed, and

any clues were buried deep. I occasionally got wind of something about BK, found out Cynthia might be

linked to this shadowy organization. So, for years, I’ve been keeping tabs on BK, but their members are

incredibly wary.”

“Mr. Sanders didn’t find out anything?”novelbin

“There are some clues. Within BK, there are two key figures: one known as ‘Blood’, or B, and another

called ‘Killer’, K for short. These two hold high ranks but always wear masks, so no one knows their

faces. I’ve clashed with Mr. K twice, and all I know is he has a tiny mole on his earlobe.”

A tiny mole on the earlobe?

Ian quickly scanned his memory but drew a blank.

Seeing Ian deep in thought, Augus dropped his hands from his temples.

“These two are mysterious and extremely cautious. I’ve only discovered that one of them hides in

Greenfield’s wealthy clan. I’ve sent my younger son to keep an eye on people in the clan, but he was

too innocent to glean much. I too have been to Greenfield several times, but to no avail. If Cynthia’s

linked to BK, then their disappearance must be connected to the organization. Once we spot the

organization, we will definitely find them.”

“So, you’re working with me because I’m familiar with Greenfield.”

"Exactly."

Ian whipped out his phone and called Tyler, instructing him to look out for a man with a mole on his

earlobe.

Just as he finished, Augus added, "It's a small, red mole, not easy to spot. You have to look closely."

Ian relayed this new detail to Tyler.

Over in Greenfield, where it was daytime, Tyler had been holed up scripting. Often he lost track of time

once getting into the zone. Glancing at the bottle of melatonin on his nightstand, he figured he might

actually need it tonight.

He made his way to the bathroom, examining his own earlobes in the mirror.

"Ian, count me out first. No moles on my earlobes. There's one on my nose, but it's black."

"Tyler, hit me up the moment you hear anything."

Tyler nodded; his eyes were misty as he peered into the mirror.

"Ian, I still can't believe Fitch is gone."

Ian hadn't broken the news about Fitch still being alive; it was too risky, especially if the mole was

someone Tyler knew. Tyler's trust in friends was absolute, but his circle was diverse. For now, Ian kept

mum, only urging him to stay vigilant.

After hanging up, Tyler made his way to the Haskins estate again.

The Haskins were hosting a memorial for Fitch.

The sight of Fitch's portrait in the center of the hall, draped in black and white, made it all seem like a

surreal nightmare. Tyler couldn't cry; he just stood there, feeling all numb, and offered some flowers.

Turning around, he noticed Phelps amidst the crowd.

Dressed in full black, Phelps followed the ceremonial rites, also offering a bow of flowers.

When Phelps approached, Tyler clapped him on the shoulder.

"Never seen you in all black, kind of strange." He forced a wry smile. "Bet Fitch never saw it either."

Phelps looked down and lighted up a cigarette.

Tyler's gaze drifted involuntarily towards his ear.

Nothing on the left. What about the right?
