Chapter 1222

Dylan was engrossed in a book, relaxed and carefree, with a bowl of peeled fruit on the small tablebetween him and Judith

Little did he know that just a few hundred yards away, Maja had just had a brush with death.

Judith quickly grabbed her compact mirror after hanging up the phone. Noticing her tired appearance, she touched up her lipstick and applied a bit of blush to brighten her complexion Only then did she turnto Dylan with a beaming smile

“lan’s on his way over Could you give us some space?”

Dylan wasn’t so naive. He knew that lan seeking Judith out wasn’t a positive sign.

“Judith, you haven’t been up to anything have you?”

Judith was about to deny it, but then remembered Maja, unconscious in the hallway, her fate unknown

A frown creased her forehead Wind should have been careful, she thought. No one should know.

She quickly took out her phone and sent a message to Wind, asking him to hide Maja.

“No, I’ve been taking care of myself these days”

Dylan Jet the matter drop

Fifteen minutes later, a loud crash sounded from nearby

An SUV had rammed through the gate and was headed straight for them.

Luckily the patio where he and Judith were sitting was elevated, preventing the vehicle from reachingthem.

The car pulled to a stop in front of them, and lan strode out

The rain had stopped, but he was still drenched and exuded a volatile energy.

“Tan” Judith’s eyes lighted up with joy. She tried to approach him, oblivious to the danger.

But in the next moment, lan pulled out a gun and fired without hesitation. The bullet hit Judith in theshoulder.

Judith froze her face paling as pain shot through her body. Then her heart condition kicked in.

Dylan watched on in disbelief and rage.

“lan, have you lost your mind?”

He rushed forward, but lan grabbed Judith, who was in the throes of her heart attack.

“Where’s Maja?”

Judith was on the verge of passing out, but lan’s grip on her arm kept her conscious. Her heart wasaching and she was in agony

Dylan tried to help her, but lan aimed his gun at Judith’s temple.

“Dylan, if you take one more step, I’ll kill her right here

Dylan froze, his face dark with anger as he watched lan squeeze Judith’s arm until it bruised

*I ask you one more time, where’s Maja?”

Judith was struggling for breath, her vision blurring. She gasped for air, feeling as though she weresuffocating

Dylan watched helplessly from a few yards away, wishing he could kill lan

“Judith has a heart condition. Let her take her medication first or she’ll drop dead. Then you won’t beable to save Maja”

He tried to keep his voice steady as he tossed Judith’s medication to lan

lan caught it and unceremoniously shoved it into Judith’s mouth

Once Judith’s condition stabilized, he released her. She slid to the ground, and his gun still aimed ather temple, “I’m losing patience. Where’s Maja?”

Judith was in pain and seething with resentment Tears streamed down her face

Dylan worried that she must have done something to provoke lari’s wrath

“Judith, did you hide Maja?”novelbin

“No, I didn’t

But before she could finish her sentence, another gunshot rang out. This time, the bullet pierced herother shoulder
