Chapter 1046

Judith chuckled to herself, having already seen the news on Twitter. Maja was probably still at Wilma’splace, and it would definitely be past eight when she arrived here.

Besides, there was a surprise in store for her.

A slight smile tugged at the corner of Judith’s mouth, knowing she had to play her cards right. Aftersaying this, she mingled with the other socialites at the party. Everyone was raving about howhandsome her boyfriend was and how good–looking her brother was,

Cradling a glass of champagne, Judith navigated the party with ease.

lan stood in a corner, his icy demeanor warding off anyone who attempted to approach him. His frostyaura was far chillier than the indoor air conditioning.

Fitch, the man of the hour, was the busiest. Despite being taciturn on normal days, he had to exchangepleasantries at such a social event.

Irritation lurked in the depths of his eyes, but he maintained a calm facade. Upon spotting lan, he let outa sigh of relief and hurried over.

lan was brooding in a corner, his gaze focused on a distant point.

Fitch nudged lan’s shoulder, “Where’s Maja?”

He’d made their relationship public on Facebook. Logically, he should have brought his girlfriend tosuch an occasion, it was a chance for everyone to meet Maja.

lan was not in the mood for socializing tonight, and the constant questions about Maja’s absence werestarting to get on his nerves.

Seeing that lan was not in high spirits, Fitch pointed upstairs, “There’s a terrace up there. You can havea drink there, undisturbed.” lan patted his shoulder.novelbin

“Thanks.”

With that, he walked upstairs.

Maja had arrived at Greenfield Gardens half an hour ago. When she arrived, lan had just left fiveminutes prior.

The styling team recognized her immediately.

“You must be Ms. Pennyfeather. We were hired by Mr. Raymond. Please, come and sit down.”

Maja was still in her work clothes, which were hardly suitable for a party.

“Just give me a quick makeover. Where’s lan?”

“Mr. Raymond waited for you for a few hours. He’s left for now.”

Maja’s heart sank. She wasn’t sure if she could smooth things over this time.

The stylists were aware of the time and knew that they were running late. The original styling plan hadto be scrapped, and Maja was quickly helped into a gown. Maja had asked Zoey to send her dressover, but the stylists brought out a different one. It was elegantly simple, making her look even morealoof and detached. “Ms. Pennyfeather, you look stunning in this dress.”

“Just do a quick makeover for Zoey, too. Both of us should be ready within twenty minutes.”

“Sure.”

Thus, Zoey was also made to sit down. The stylists had a range of the latest gowns.

Zoey was not used to such fancy dressing and felt a bit uncomfortable.

Maja comforted her, “You’ll have to enter with me later, so get yourself mentally prepared.”

Zoey nodded, closing her eyes in acquiescence.

After the styling, Maja looked at herself in the mirror.

She wore a strand of saltwater baroque pearls around her neck, with no other accessories. Yet, shedidn’t look plain.

Her dress was a pale blue, a simple design with clever detailing at the waist to enhance her figure.

“Ms. Pennyfeather, you’re all set. You look beautiful.”

Maja nodded, glancing at Zoey.

Zoey was in a white fringed dress, looking like a delicate jade.

The two headed out immediately.

Zoey was still the driver, and by the time they arrived at the venue, it was already half past eight.

She handed their invitation card to the staff at the entrance, who looked her up and down. It wasprobably the first time they’d seen guests arriving so late. They bowed slightly and led them inside.

As they entered the grand entrance, some people turned to look at them, but there was no commotion.Only those who recognized Maja wondered why she wasn’t with lan.

Maja scanned the crowd and pointed to a group standing under a champagne tower.

“Zoey, those are our company’s recent partners. Go chat with them for a bit. I’ll go look for lan.”

This was Zoey’s job, and all the partners recognized her.

She nodded, gracefully making her way towards them.

The men greeted her enthusiastically upon seeing her.

Maja made a round but couldn’t find lan. Instead, she spotted Clara and Drew.

They had been waiting for quite some time, and upon seeing her, Clara’s eyes brightened instantly.

“Maja!”

Her voice was loud enough to echo across the hall.
