As Lachlan swaggered towards the private room, everyone was filled with suspicion. Was heignorant and looking for trouble, or did he have some kind of backup?
Kiera's eyes flashed with doubt. Could he really be the distinguished guest her grandfather hadasked her to meet? If so, then her grandfather was seriously unreliable.
Not only was his attire inappropriate, but the fact that he was married to a Lowe family heiressmade him unacceptable to Kiera.
Betty and Orion exchanged glances while other wealthy heirs looked at each other in confusion.
"Could it be that he is really the distinguished guest?"
"No way! That's impossible!"
"How could a son-in-law of the Lowe family become Erik's distinguished guest?"
However, in the next moment, as everyone held onto their last shred of hope and unwillingness toaccept this reality, Lachlan arrived at the door of the private room.
"Sir, may I ask who you are?" Two attractive female servers guarded the entrance and politelyasked as they saw Lachlan approaching.
"My surname is Willis."
Lachlan shrugged off the attention and looked around the room. Erik was the first to greet him,poking his head out of the private room to see if Henry had welcomed Lachlan in.
"Hey, you made it!" Erik exclaimed upon seeing Lachlan. He then noticed Kiera and others behindhim and said with a knowing smile, "Looks like you came up with Kiera and her crew."
Lachlan just smiled back without saying much.
The commotion drew other people from inside the private room. Caelan who was alreadyunmasked, Reeva, Clifford and a slightly overweight middle-aged man joined them.
"You're early, young man! Haha..." Caelan grabbed Lachlan's arm warmly as he spoke.
The old man's chin was still slightly crooked but not as terrifying as before.
"I thought we'd have to wait for you longer. No wonder Chloe calls you Pigsy - always first in line forfood," Reeva rolled her eyes at Lachlan playfully and teased him good-naturedly.
Caelan immediately scolded his granddaughter, "Reeva! Don't be rude!"
Lachlan just chuckled at their banter without saying anything else.
Reeva stuck out her tongue, playfully winking at Lachlan.
Lachlan chuckled and waved it off.
"Mr. Willis!" At that moment, Clifford approached with a bow of respect towards Lachlan.
Betty, Orion, and the other wealthy heirs were dumbfounded.
Kiera's eyes widened in surprise as she realized that her suspicions had been confirmed - Lachlanwas indeed the esteemed guest of the day!
They had all been waiting for Lachlan to make an appearance so Erik could expose him, but insteadhe was being treated with such reverence.
However, what happened next left them even more stunned.
The slightly overweight middle-aged man rushed over to Lachlan with excitement on his face."You... you're Dr. Willis?" Vincent Reid grabbed hold of Lachlan's hand eagerly asking him thisquestion.
"I'm Lachlan Willis." Lachlan was taken aback by the man in front of him, feeling like he had seenhim before but couldn't quite place it.
"Thud!"
As soon as Lachlan spoke, Vincent knelt down in front of Lachlan and said, "Dr. Willis! Thank youfor saving my life! Thank you so much!"
Lachlan was confused and quickly helped him up. "What are you doing? When did I save your life?"
Caelan laughed and said, "Let me introduce you to Vincent Reid, the CEO of the Reid's Group. Hiswife had chronic myeloid leukemia that had entered an acute phase and she was on her deathbed.You gave me a few samples of 'Love Light,' a drug that can cure leukemia. I took a chance andgave it to Mr. Reid."
"I didn't expect his wife to actually survive and her health has never been better!" Caelan continued.
Upon hearing this, Lachlan suddenly realized who Vincent was - the billionaire from Kreanfordwhom he often saw in news reports.
Vincent quickly dismissed his title as a wealthy businessman, "I'm not worthy of being called abillionaire! Dr. Wills, you saved my wife's life! As thanks for what you've done for us, please accept20% ownership in the Reid's Group."
He handed over the transfer agreement directly to Lachlan.
Vincent wasn't like other wealthy people with family backgrounds; he built his wealth from scratchwith nothing but hard work and determination.
