Zoe was terrorized by Landon’s wrath. She had witnessed him teaching Donna and Gary a lesson. Hehadn’t even spared Gary, who had been serving him for years. The punishment he had inflicted onGary
seemed almost fatal.
All of this chaos was because of Lauren. Zoe couldn’t fathom why Landon would go to such lengths foran idiot. In comparison, she felt that she had been reduced to a joke as his sister.
After leaving the villa, she returned to the Harper Residence with a resentful scowl. Throughout thejourney, she couldn’t hold back her tears when she reminisced about how Landon had used to spoilher.
Amidst her anger, Zoe made a resolute decision. No matter what, she was determined to comebetween Landon and Lauren. She would never accept Lauren as her sister-in-law.
“Zoe, you’re finally home!” Penelope called out. She teared up after a long separation from herdaughter
and came out to hug Zoe.
“My darling. I thought your flight had landed earlier. Why are you only home now? I was so worried.”novelbin
“Mom…” Zoe teared up at the sight of her mom and the injustice that had befallen her.
“What’s wrong, my dear? You look upset. Did someone bully you?” Penelope inquired
“Where’s your brother? Did he pick you up? Why didn’t he come home with you?”
Zoe stared at her feet and shook her head pitifully.
Penelope grumbled, “What’s gotten into Landon? He’s always pampered you, but he was ready tosend you to Yoarkley over that Beckett girl incident.
“And now, when you’ve finally come home, he couldn’t even be bothered to pick you up from the airportat night! I just don’t understand him.”
Then, she caressed Zoe’s chilly cheek with concern. “Landon hasn’t been home in the past few days. I
know he’s busy, and he’s always done things his way.
“But in the past, he never disappeared without a trace, no matter how busy he was. Now, he doesn’tcome home and doesn’t seem to care about his sister. I wonder what’s going on in his mind.”
Zoe blurted out, “I know why he’s not home.”
“What? You know?” Penelope exclaimed in surprise.

“What’s wrong? Please don’t give me a heart attack.”
“Landon is dating Sophia’s youngest daughter now,” Zoe stated through gritted teeth.
“Who? Sophia Kirkman? The youngest daughter of that bitch? Penelope gasped, her jaw dropping.
“Yes, he’s dating Betty’s sister, Sophia’s daughter!” Zoe confirmed and grabbed Penelope’s arm.
She complained, “Mom, what’s he thinking? Sophia and Betty caused a scene at our place, slanderedme, and even wanted to send me to jail!
“All of this happened recently, and yet, Landon ended up dating Lauren. How can he do that to me?Doesn’t he care about me anymore?”
Penelope felt uneasy upon hearing the news, even though the Becketts were a prestigious family andJasper was Landon’s best friend. After all, Landon was a proud and accomplished man.
Nevertheless, she tried to comfort Zoe. “I don’t like Sophia’s daughter either, but you know yourbrother. He’s a ladies’ man, and he’s been involved with more than half the young women in SolanaCity. However, he’s never brought any of them home. Most of the time, he’s not genuinely interested.
“It’s possible he’s taken an interest in Jasper’s sister because he spends so much time with Jasper. Ibelieve he’ll grow bored of her soon, just like he has with others in the past-
