Clearing her throat, she placed the medication on the table and rose. “These are the medications foryour second round of treatment. Take them on time. I’m leaving.”

Jasper shook his head and insisted, “No, please take them with you.”

Frowning, she admonished him, “What are you thinking? Do you want to risk your life? You’re a risingstar in the business world with a substantial net worth. Are you seriously throwing it all away?”

“No. I just feel like you shouldn’t be indebted to me. I might have saved your life, but I did that becauseI

was making up to you,” he explained, shaking his head once more.

He added, “You don’t have to feel sorry for me, no matter how bad my state is. Besides, I’m muchbetter

now. I don’t need the medication.”

Much better? Who was he trying to fool?

She couldn’t contain her anger, and a wry smile crossed her lips. “Is this some new trick? Are youtrying to

make me chase after you by giving up on me? It might work in romantic dramas, but I’m not the ma

character.”

“I know,” he said with a bitter smile.

“I’m not playing games. I genuinely have feelings for you. I truly don’t need these medicationsanymore.”

His words left her conflicted. She retorted, “Well, if that’s the case, then I have nothing more to say. Ifyou won’t accept my help, I won’t force my kindness on you. That would be shameless.

“After you complete your first round of treatment, you can discontinue the routine. All medicine comeswith some level of side effects. It’s not good to take them regularly anyway. Good luck.”
