Clad in a snug-fitting pink athletic outfit, she went for a treadmill run instead. Her face was flushed, and
she was covered in sweat.
With a towel and a bottle in each hand, Sean reported, “Ms. Alyssa, Mr. Taylor and Mr. Beckett have
compiled the guest lists. After comparing them, I found a 50% overlap.”
She didn’t look surprised. “As expected.”
Sean looked worried and confessed, “I’m a little concerned now. Madam Lyla is having her birthdayparty
at the KS World Hotel, while Sophia is having hers at the Berenike Hotel. It smells like a rivalry all over
again.”
“It’s not us who wanted to compete against her. It was that witch who wanted to host her party on the
same day as Lyla’s. She’s not afraid of karma, it seems,” Alyssa was able to speak and taunt Sophia,all
while running hard on the treadmill.

“You’re worried over nothing” She dismounted the treadmill, and Sean reached out to wipe her sweatas
usual. However, she unexpectedly took the towel from him, her gaze avoiding his. “I’ll take care of it
myself.”
Sean felt a tightening in his chest and pressed his lips together.
Despite having previously laid his feelings bare, he believed they had talked it out and established clearboundaries. He never expected anything more from her, so why did their relationship worsenregardless?
“The Schmidts are on Dad’s guest list. Not only that, I handed the invitation card to Landon, and hejumped at it like an excited pup.
“He’s turned down the invitation to Sophia’s party for Lyla’s,” Alyssa explained, her gaze shifting away
from Sean’s disappointed expression as she wiped her sweat with a towel.
