Chapter 52

Alyssa’s eyes widened in shock. Her heart skipped a beat.

Her gaze bore deeply into Jasper’s.

Her captivating eyes seemed to blaze with fiery flames.

Her expression was almost overwhelming.

Even a man as commanding as Jasper couldn’t help but flicker his eyes as if trying to avoid her intensegaze.

After a moment, Alyssa smiled. There was a distant look in her eyes. It was as if she were emotionallydetached or lost in thought, creating a sense of unfamiliarity between them.

“So, Mr. Beckett, you rushed here only to vent your anger on your dear wife? It seems like you’ve beenholding it in for so long that you might explode on the spot if you don’t release it now.”

Jasper had pushed himself to the limit. Alyssa had poured her heart into her relationship with Jasper forthe past three years. She didn’t expect him to cherish any memory of her goodness. His continuoususe of derogatory language to degrade her was crossing the line! 1

Moreover, Alyssa had moved on and no longer belonged to Jasper. It seemed Jasper never allowedher to be his. She stood outside his heart like a stray cat waiting to be taken in, only to be met witheven harsher rejection.

Was Alyssa supposed to endure Jasper’s heartless trampling? There was no justification for suchtreatment!

“Jasper, it’s unfortunate that despite your impressive connections and influence, you might not be ableto rescue Gardner Group from this

calamity. Dylan’s wrongdoings against KS Group, such as violation of interests, bribery, evidencetampering, and framing others, are well- documented. It appears there’s no way you can save himnow.”

Alyssa’s expression sharpened suddenly. Her red lips curved into a mesmerizing smile, captivating thehearts of those who beheld it. “You

can’t stand it. And since you can’t change the situation, all you can do is pick on me, mock me, andhumiliate me to vent your anger.”novelbin

Alice was determined to do things her way, fighting for what she wanted without looking back. Shedidn’t care about others‘ opinions, not

even Jasper’s. Alice was determined to bring down Gardner Group and make them pay for theiractions. She was willing to go to any

lengths to achieve her goals.

Jasper’s muscular arms tightened beneath his suit. The veins on his hand bulged. Now that Alice had apowerful ally, she exuded

confidence and sharp wit.

“Shameless and unscrupulous!” Jasper felt his breath caught in his throat while saying the words.

“Shameless and unscrupulous? Well, thanks for the half–hearted compliment.” Alyssa mustered aforced smile, but it was so cutting that it felt like a prick to his eyes. “But even if I were shameless andunscrupulous, what did it matter to you? Who are you to judge and meddle in my business?”

As the conversation seemed futile, Alyssa decided to turn and walk away. To her surprise, Jasper wasunwilling to let go. He gripped her arm with an alarming amount of force right where she had recentlyrecovered from an injury.

“Let go of me!” Alyssa winced, fearing any sudden movements might aggravate her old injury.

“Alice, what am I to you? You know it perfectly well.” Jasper’s voice was husky. His eyes were burningwith intense curiosity.

It was as if they were two gamblers at a table, each trying to outwit the other. Each was desperatelysearching for the other’s hidden cards.

Alyssa retorted with anger, “What else could you be? A useless ex–husband!”

“Alice!” Jasper’s eyes flushed red in an instant.

“Jasper! Let go of me!”

Sean forcefully shoved Jasper aside and shielded Alyssa in his embrace.

“Don’t worry, Sean. Mr. Beckett was only chatting with me,” Alyssa reassured Sean calmly.

“He touched the arm you injured! You were complaining about feeling unwell the other night. It’s allbecause of him, isn’t it?!” Sean glared

Jasper felt a sharp pang inside as he clenched his fingers that had just brushed against Alyssa’s.

Alyssa glanced at Sean with a hint of resentment. She felt she didn’t need to share this in front ofJasper. It was like she was trying to gain

sympathy.

“Are you Jonah’s secretary?” Jasper’s expression turned grim once he recognized Sean.
