Chapter 483

After spending three days behind bars, Betty finally regained her freedom. However, despite Simon’srequest for Javier to keep the news under wraps, Jasper quickly got wind of it.

“How did Betty get acquitted? Didn’t you have someone keeping an eye on Abigail Grant? Did Simonmeet with her?” Jasper looked icy as he slammed his fist against the car window.

“Mr. Beckett, the issue isn’t with Abigail. It’s Bryan Hanssen!” Xavier’s eyes blazed with anger.

He explained, “Our intel revealed that Simon Lynch had a secret meeting with Bryan Hanssen asBetty’s attorney, all arranged by Javier. He probably spooked Bryan out with some bullshit because thatdude

immediately took all the blame for Betty.”

“What else could Simon have done? He must have threatened to harm Bryan’s family! How could an

attorney pull such a dirty trick? How could an attorney resort to such dirty tactics?”

Jasper’s eyes darkened like the calm before the storm, his fists trembling. He lamented, “The goodname

of Judge Spencer Lynch has been tarnished by his eldest son!”

“If Bryan Hanssen became the scapegoat, what about Abigail …” Xavier’s sentence was cut short by a

ringing phone.

He picked it up. “What’s the matter?”

Xavier’s expression grew serious after the call. He quickly reported to Jasper, “Something’s happened.

The police have arrested Abigail on the charges of defamation and perjury!”

Jasper saw that coming. While Abigail deserved to face consequences for her actions, he couldn’t help

but feel a surge of anger at the outcome.

Betty seemed to be reborn when she arrived at Seaview Manor in tears. In front of Javier and Newton,

she and Sophia embraced each other tightly, showing off their mother-daughter bond.

Sophia had never been a great actress during her career, but she had a knack for putting on a

performance when the situation called for it.

“Mom, Dad, you must seek justice for me! Alyssa and Zoe framed me!” Betty seized the opportunity tovilify Alyssa.

She knelt by Newton’s wheelchair and lamented, “Grandpa, Alyssa wants me gone! She’s a sly, wickedwoman! I wouldn’t have been standing in front of you had it not been for Mr. Lynch’s help!”

Newton felt torn in the face of Betty’s accusations. On one hand, he refused to believe that Alice wasthe woman described by Betty; on the other hand, it was Alice who provided the police with evidencefor

Betty’s arrest.

For the second time in Newton’s life, he was stuck between a rock and a hard place regarding hisfamily.

Two decades earlier, during the Beckett Group’s rapid expansion in Solana City, Javier and Chester

Beckett had become entangled in bribery and land auction scandals in their quest to dominate the

market and grow the company swiftly.novelbin

In the end, Newton had his younger son, Chester, shoulder all the blame for Javier. It happened partly

because Newton favored his eldest child and partly because Chester was in poor health.

Chester received a four-year prison sentence, but to everyone’s shock, he passed away from a heart

attack just six months into his sentence.

Newton mourned Chester’s death while his wife’s health deteriorated due to the heartbreak, eventuallyleading to her passing. (1

“Grandpa, I told you Alyssa had ulterior motives! She must have married Jasper for her own gain!”Betty complained and cried on Newton.

Betty continued, “She was probably nice to you because she wanted something from you-likely thoseBeckett Group stocks!”

“Dad, she’s right!”
