Chapter 47

Alyssa: “That’s enough! You guys are so childish. Jasper must have investigated us because hesuspects Silas‘ identity. You showed up twice to protect me, so I think he realized you aren’t Jonah. Ifthat’s the case, then you guys don’t have to hide anymore. If he wants an answer, I’ll give him ananswer!”

The moment she spoke up, her older brothers immediately stopped fooling around.

Alyssa’s gaze darkened as she swirled the red wine in her glass.

The weekend arrived in the blink of an eye.

After public pressure, the Gardner Group held a press conference at a five–star hotel. A lot of reportersshowed up.

The Gardner family wasn’t that influential on their own. Liana’s engagement with Jasper made theGardner family the center of attention overnight.novelbin

A black Maybach was parked by the roadside opposite the hotel’s entrance. Inside it, Jasper watchedthe press conference on his iPad indifferently.

“Mr. Beckett, Mr. Newton reminded you not to bother about Gardner Group.” Xavier said worriedly,“Wouldn’t your bond with your father be affected if you keep going against him? I’m worried that Mrs.Beckett will talk bad about you.”

“It won’t affect me. I won’t help the Gardner Group,” said Jasper coldly. “As for my father, there wasn’tany bond between us, to begin with.”

Xavier sighed. His boss looked grand on the outside, but he was actually an outcast in the Beckettfamily. Jasper had nobody to vent to.

The press conference started. With everyone watching, Dylan Gardner walked onstage in a statelymanner with his chin held high. He looked displeased and wronged, as if he had suffered severe unfairtreatment.

“You all know that Elysian Home, a Gardner Group subsidiary, has 32 outlets in Solana City and over400 nationwide. It’s a well–known brand. The negativity this time is deliberate, aimed at damagingGardner Group’s professional image!” Dylan declared.

Xavier pursed his lips while looking at the screen. “What an arrogant man he is. How can he be soself–righteous when his company’s products obviously have serious quality issues? He’s soshameless!”

Jasper said nothing, but his frown deepened.

“But the first party to expose Elysian Home’s quality issues is a hotel under KS Group. KS Group’sreputation is respected nationwide.

They have never slandered their competitors for their own gain. That’s why I think Elysian Home is notsimply being targeted by someone.

What are your thoughts on this?” the reporter asked sarcastically.

Dylan’s expression darkened immediately. He responded, “Elysian Home has been here for more thana decade. This is the first time we’ve

faced this kind of incident. I am also anxious and worried.”

“Mr. Gardner, does this mean you admit to having quality issues? Besides, if I remember correctly, aserious complaint was lodged against you early last year. I’m sure everyone here remembers theincident?” The reporter shot Dylan another question and refreshed everyone’s

memory.

Dylan’s expression grew stormy, and he clenched his fists tightly.

Meanwhile, in the underground car park, Alyssa sat in her sports car. She was watching a live streamof the press conference. She smirked. No one could have guessed that she had sent that reporter.

“In the two years Dylan became CEO, he’s pocketed tons of profit and done whatever he wanted. Thecompany keeps having problems. Dylan is also about to squander all of his family’s wealth,” saidAlyssa.

Sean laughed mirthlessly and said, “But I didn’t think he was so bold to dare to lie publicly at a pressconference. Is he so confident that

no one knows his Achilles heel?”

Alyssa replied, “He thinks he has a trump card. That’s why he dares to speak so pompously.”

Alyssa narrowed her eyes slyly and took a packet of chocolate from Sean’s coat pocket. Then, sheunwrapped it and put the piece of chocolate into her mouth. “Just wait and see. He’ll play his trumpcard once he gets pushed to the edge, and our opportunity will be here.”
