Soon, Jasper entered the tailor shop.

The old tailor was ironing some clothes at that time. He was surprised to see a handsome customerwalking into his shop.

“Ah, it’s you!”

“Money is no issue here. I hope that you can help me out with something.”

Jasper opened the box with a light frown on his face.

“Oh, dear! What happened to the suit? Why is it all torn?” The tailor’s heart broke at the sight of thetorn suit.

“It’s all my fault.” That was the only excuse Jasper could come up with.

“That young lady spent such a long time making this suit just for you. I’ve witnessed the way shestruggled when she worked on that suit.

It’s as though I helped make it.”

The old tailor shook his head sadly. “What a shame. This is such a nice suit.”

“Is there a way for you to fix it?” Jasper asked.

“How am I supposed to do that? I can easily patch up the inner fabric, but it will be difficult to fix theouter fabric.”

For some reason, Jasper tensed up when he heard the tailor’s response.

“Just do your best. I don’t care if there are stitches on the outside. At least patch the hole up.”

Upon returning to Seaview Manor, Jasper felt that something wasn’t right. The atmosphere felt a littletoo tense.

Betty Beckett, also known as Sophia’s oldest daughter, hurried toward him with an anxious look on herface.

“Grandpa came here earlier, and now he’s arguing with Dad in the study. Things seem pretty intense atthe moment. Please break up their fight before it’s too late.”

“Why are they arguing?” Jasper frowned immediately.

As far as he was concerned, Javier was a good son to Newton. At least, that was what the publicthought of him.

Newton was prone to stroke attacks, not to mention he suffered from high blood pressure too.Therefore, he mustn’t get angry no matter

what.

If Javier was willing to disregard his identity as a loving son and fight with Newton, there could only beone reason–Sophia.

“Lia and our family are practically family at this point. Now that the Gardner family is facing a crisis, it’spretty reasonable for Dad to help

Betty looked quite annoyed at that moment. “The thing is, Grandpa refuses to let Dad help the GardnerGroup! Has he gone senile? Helping

the Gardner Group is equivalent to helping our family too, right?

“You’ll be marrying Lia soon, Jasper. If we don’t deal with this crisis, our family’s reputation will beruined as well.”

Meanwhile, Newton snatched up the ashtray and the cup from the coffee table and threw them to thefloor angrily. He was still seated in his wheelchair at that time.

He was already 80 years old. The older he got, the more temperament*l he became. He tended to startthrowing anything he could get his hands on whenever things didn’t go his way.

Sophia dabbed her tears away with a handkerchief. She leaned into Javier’s arms while crying softly.

Newton huffed angrily at Javier. “What did I tell you, huh? I told you not to meddle with the GardnerGroup’s business! How dare you go against my order!

“You even helped that family clear their stock! Not only that, but you also gave their company theprojects belonging to the Beckett Group! How the hell did that woman convince you, huh? Did youseriously think my words no longer hold any weight in this family?”

“How could you say such things, Dad?” Javier was furious at Newton as well, but he didn’t dare tomake things worse.

“Am I wrong? You’ve been acting like a fool ever since you married this woman!” Newton slapped hisarmrest angrily.

“Dad, I know you look down on me, but it’s been 20 years since I started dating Javier. I’ve put in somuch effort just to raise our children. I did all I could for the sake of the Beckett family. At the sametime, I did my best to please you as well.”

Sophia continued tearfully, “I’ve never gone against your wishes, nor did I cause any trouble for theBeckett family. That’s because I view my marriage to Javier as a blessing. As long as he’s my husband,nothing else in this world matters to me.”

Javier turned to gaze at Sophia affectionately.

But Newton had already seen through her mask of deceit and lies. His body trembled violently out ofanger, which caused his wheelchair

to tremble as well.
