Chapter 1082

Alyssa casually took a sip of water and suggested, “Why don’t you attend the horse racing event withLyla?”

Caught by surprise, Winston had not anticipated the request from his daughter. Lyla immediatelyexplained as she blushed in nervousness,” L-Lyse, I turn down these social events because they giveme the jitters. I’m not good at small talk and might make blunders. It might be better if Mandy attends.Colene could be an excellent choice as well.”

Alyssa poked through the lie, “But you seemed quite happy when your attended mass. It was crowdedthere, too.”

“I …” Lyla pressed her lips until they paled.

“Winston, bring Lyla with you. I can’t possibly attend the race with your every single year. The mediawill make an issue out of it again,” Mandy advised after seemingly catching onto Alyssa’s plan.

Winston furrowed his brows and looked at Lyla deeply. He inquired in a hushed voice, “Lyla, are youupset?”

Lyla shook her head vehemently.novelbin

He gently took her trembling hands under the table and clasped them. “You have always refused toattend public events. I never insisted on it because I thought you disliked socializing. I didn’t want toburden you. Just tell me what’s on your mind. I’ll try my best to fulfill your wishes.”

“Winston, I have nothing in mind,” Lyla replied, tears brimming in her eves eyes.

Winston felt sorry for Lyla’s helpless response. He thought he had traumatized by what happeneddecades ago.

All the while, she had pretended to be fine to spare him the worry.

Finally, Winston decided to attend the horse racing event with Lyla. For that, he instructed Neil toprepare a suitable outfit for her over the night.

Everything seemed to be proceeding smoothly according to Alyssa’s plan.

“Lyse!”

After everyone left the dinner table, Lyla ran after Alyssa. After some hesitation, she asked meekly,“Why… Why do you want me to attend. the horse race this year?”

“Lyla, you can’t hide away forever like an invisible figure. That is utterly cruel and unfair to you. Youused to be this lovely and dazzling beauty. Have you forgotten how the media hailed you as the n sbombshell?” Alyssa remarked, fixing her gaze on Lyla.

She couldn’t help but feel a twinge of bitterness for Lyla, who ha enjoyed great fame as a beautifulactress only to be reduced to a humble housewife.

To Lyla, Winston was her savior, and she appreciated the Taylor family for accepting her as one of theirown. As a result, she willingly sacrificed for the family without a word of complaint.

Lyla managed a wry smile. “That was in the past. My boss had crafted my image. I never thought I wasbetter than anyone else. All I could do was sing and act. I was no different than any employee at work.”

“Regardless of the past, you shouldn’t be haunted by it. It’s time to be a good role model for her!”

Lyla was touched by Alyssa’s advice. At the thought of Tatiana, Lyla experienced a newfound strengthin her body, which lifted her mood.

She smiled with guilt. “That’s right. I’ve been too weak. As a mother, I need to be strong.”

Alyssa took her hand and chuckled by her ear. “There’s more to come. Just look forward to a specialgift from me on that day.”

Meanwhile, Jasper discreetly positioned his men in Solana City to monitor the movements of the maidwho was responsible for Anne’s death.
