Chapter 744

Chapter 744

Caroline was completely different from when she had been working at Thorne Corporation. She

was now more calm, elegant, and generous than before. She had the bearing of a queen.

The bank’s new chairman approached Caroline as soon as he saw her. “Ms. Evans, the venue for

the handover ceremony is ready. Please come with us.”

“All right.”

Seeing Caroline about to enter the bank, many reporters asked anxiously, “Ms. Evans, can you tell

us who is endorsing you?”

“How did this endorser beat Layla, who had the support of both Morrison Corp and the Hackett

family?”

“Ms. Evans, is there a deal here that we’re not aware of?”

Caroline remained silent.

In the face of the reporters‘ questioning, the new chairman quickly signaled to the security

personnel to block them.

Then, he said to the reporters, “Everyone, we understand your desire to get to the bottom of things,

so we arranged an interview after the ceremony. Please calm down for now. Let us handle the

handover ceremony first.”

The reporters then stopped their questioning.

Meanwhile, in a black car, Layla looked coldly at Dan, who was driving. “What are you doing? Didn’t

you already agree to our terms yesterday? Why are you going back on your word?”

Sarah feared that Layla would grab the steering wheel, so she quickly held Layla’s hand down. Layla,

let us explain. After promising you that we would reveal Caroline’s identity today, we spent a lot of time

thinking about things. We don’t think this is the best move to make.”

She continued, “Right now, Caroline’s career is at its peak. If we expose her identity, Collins Group will

never be in Dan’s hands. Don’t you think so?”

Layla’s expression twisted into a scowl. “So you want to acknowledge Caroline as your daughter again

just for Collins Group?”

The fact that Caroline wasn’t their daughter was Layla’s final bargaining chip. If Dan and Sarah

didn’t want to admit this truth, she wouldn’t have any other way to beat Caroline.

“Well … You can’t blame us for this. We agreed that we would reveal that Caroline isn’t our daught, if

you got Collins Group. But you failed to do so. So how can you blame us?* Sarah said,

clearly displeased.

“Besides, we really hoped you could take over Collins Group. You’ve let us down, but you started to

accuse us before we even said anything about it.”

Layla clenched her fists tightly. “Then, why are you taking me to the handover ceremony?”

Sarah glanced at Dan, who was driving. After a moment, she said, “We’re not taking you there.”

As she finished talking, the car came to a stop.

Layla rolled down the window and looked at the unfamiliar view outside in disbelief. Then, she

glared at Sarah and Dan. “Are you going to leave me here?”

“That’s right.” Sarah looked at Layla sternly.

“Layla, I can’t let you ruin my daughter’s handover ceremony.”

“Your daughter?” Layla was incredulous at their actions.

“You bastards are absolutely shameless! You were the ones who rejected Caroline first, but now you’re

calling her your daughter again! Haha… Haha …”

Sarah and Dan looked at each other. “Layla, we don’t want things to get ugly. You’d better get out of

the car yourself.”

“No way in hell!” Layla yelled. She was about to grab the steering wheel, but Dan hit her on the back of

her head with a baseball bat.

Layla was overcome with dizziness and struggled to speak. She could only slump down in her seat and

let her consciousness fade away.
