Chapter 709

Caroline said with a smile, “I’ll do my best.”

Chery! knew she was trying to comfort her, so she didn’t take her words to heart. “Caroline, are

you going to submit this document in the afternoon? Do you want me to do it for you?”

“No, it’s fine. I’ll submit it myself,” Caroline said. It would be helpful to go out for a walk.

“All right. Call me anytime if you need help.” novelbin

Caroline nodded at her words. After watching Cheryl leave, her expression turned solemn.

When the test results were ready, the psychiatrist had told her that she felt so guilty because she

was a good person.

“Don’t be so hard on yourself.”

Caroline laid on her chair, exhausted. She wanted to forgive herself. However, she really couldn’t

put the blame for Jude’s death on Howard alone because Jude had taken a bullet for her.

Why did people always have to go through difficult problems in life? Caroline didn’t know the

answer to that question. She was just so tired.

She was terrified that one day, she wouldn’t be able to hold on anymore. Gradually, her internal

anguish and physical exhaustion put her to sleep.

When Caroline woke up, it was already the afternoon. She glanced at the time. The bank was still

open. She had to submit the document to them as soon as possible.

She picked up the documents and went downstairs, but didn’t see Jack’s car. She called him, but

no one answered.

This had never happened before, but Caroline didn’t have time to think about it. She hailed a cab

and went straight to the bank.

Fortunately, Caroline submitted all the documents before the bank closed.

“All right. Thank you.” Caroline stood up and was about to leave when she heard a flattering voice

from the corridor.

“Don’t worry, Ms. Layla. Mr. Eddy is endorsing you this time, so the bank will definitely give you

Mr. Eddy.”

Then, Caroline heard a familiar voice, “Well, good. I’m relieved to hear that, Mr. Donovan. I have a

question

Before Layla could finish her sentence, she spotted Caroline in the VIP room and smiled. Nevermind. I

know the answer.”

After speaking, she looked at Caroline and mocked, “I just knew you would participate in something I

was involved in, no matter what it was. Caroline, you’re simply a thorn in my eyes.”

Only then did Mr. Donovan recognize Caroline. But after seeing the tense situation between them, he

deterred from greeting her.

Caroline didn’t bother entangling herself with Layla and walked straight to the door. However, after

taking a few steps, Layla stopped her.

“Why aren’t you saying anything? Don’t know what to say? There’s no point trying to change the

situation by saying something to Ed. He took my side in the end.”

“Layla.” Caroline looked at her, amused. “You may see Eddy as a treasure, but he’s a piece of trash

in my eyes. I don’t know about everyone else, but I wouldn’t fight you over a piece of trash!”

“How dare you call Ed a piece of trash!” Layla was so furious that she raised her hand to hit

Caroline.

Caroline looked at her calmly. “Go ahead and hit me. You can go back to jail when you’re done.

Layla, you’ve been there so many times. If you get locked up again, you’ll probably never be free

again.”

Layla’s expression twisted with anger. She took several deep breaths to calm herself down before

sneering, “Go ahead and brag all you want, Caroline. When I acquire the Collins Group, the first

thing I’ll do is take back the Evans Group.”
