Adrian was reluctant to end the call, but he said, “All right. I’ll hang up for now.”

Caroline hummed in assent before walking to the private room. After entering the private room,

she put her phone on the table as the screen went off.

However, the eagle–eyed Yvonne caught sight of the name on the phone. Adrian Sorkin.

She remembered her first blind date with Adrian, and her gaze became a little cold. “Do you and Adrian

still keep in touch?” novelbin

Caroline nodded. “Yeah, we do. But we don’t do it much.”

“Does he usually contact you first, or do you contact him first?”

Caroline put down her spoon and said, “Well, I never kept track of that. What’s wrong? Why are you

bringing this up?”

Yvonne smiled. “Oh, it’s nothing.”

She had realized that she was the one who always took the initiative to contact Adrian, but Adrian

had never done so for her.

In the past, she had thought Adrian didn’t like reaching out to people. But now, it seemed that he

simply didn’t like her.

“Adrian seems to treat you very well…” Yvonne said, feigning a casual tone.

Caroline paused slightly at her words. “He treats me fine. We are friends, after all.”

“I’m afraid he doesn’t think so.”

Caroline wiped her hands calmly. “I may not be able to control other people’s thoughts, but I can keep

myself in check. I’m already married, and I love my husband very much. I won’t cheat on

him.”

Yvonne rested her chin on her hand, smiling half–heartedly at her words. It was a pity Adrian didn’t

think so. She gripped her spoon and looked at Caroline with some resentment.

However, Caroline didn’t notice it and continued to eat.

After the meal, Caroline and Yvonne parted ways at the entrance. Caroline drove around the restaurant

before stopping in front of the entrance again. She got out of the car and returned to

the restaurant.

The restaurant’s manager was already waiting at the entrance. He handed a packaged cup to Caroline.

“Ms Evans, here’s the cup Ms. Yvonne had used earlier.”

Caroline took it over. “Thank you.”

The manager wiped the sweat from his forehead and said, “Oh, no need to thank me.”

“I’ll be taking my leave.”

“All right. Take care!”

The manager personally escorted Caroline out. It wasn’t until Caroline drove away that the manager

dropped his smile. He shouted toward the kitchen, “Come here, you!”

A waiter walked up to the manager fearfully. He stammered, “S–Sir, I didn’t mix up the cups on

purpose. I was already clearing the dishes when you told me about this.”

“I didn’t call you over to talk about that.”

The manager ordered, “I’m warning you. Nothing unusual happened just now, got it? You can’t tell

anyone you mixed up the cups, even if they try to kill you.

“If anyone asks, you must tell them that Ms. Yvonne used that cup. Got it?” 1

The waiter nodded his head profusely at the manager’s order.

After Caroline left the restaurant, she went straight to the hospital Marietta was in. The doctor was

already prepared for the DNA test when she arrived.

Caroline handed the cup over to the doctor with white gloves. Then, the doctor entered the

laboratory. Marietta paced around nervously as she waited for the test results.

Seeing this, Caroline walked to her side and held her hand. “Don’t worry, Mom. I’m sure they’ll do their

job well.”

“I hope so.” Marietta couldn’t help but look over at the laboratory.

Fortunately, they didn’t have to wait too long. About five minutes later, the doctor walked out and

took off his mask.

He said to Marietta happily, “Congratulations, Ms. Weiss! Ms. Yvonne is indeed your daughter!”
