Howard blanched as he sat up straighter. “W–what do you mean by that?”
Eddy replied, “Don’t you know, Mr. Collins? I invested in Evanson Corporation. After Caroline
became the CEO of Evans Group, Morrison Corp withdrew its investment.
“Right after that, many of Evans Group’s employees resigned. That means Evans Group had no capital
or talent during that time. Caroline handled everything.”

After a second, Howard managed to force a smile. “Mr. Morrison, I didn’t mean that.”
“But you called Caroline a piece of trash.”
Howard inhaled deeply and said, “I’m sorry. I didn’t have a clear picture of what had happened before I
started making unfounded comments.”
“It’s pointless to apologize to me.” Eddy glared icily at Howard.
“I think you had better apologize to Caroline herself.”
The attendees all exchanged glances with each other.
Howard forced an unwilling smile. “Don’t worry, I will certainly apologize to Ms. Evans personally.
Ah, it’s getting late. Let me go see if my wife’s ready.”
As he spoke, Howard got up to head to the second floor.
After turning a corner and making sure that no one could see his expression, Howard frowned deeply.
His expression remained grim as he walked to the master bedroom.
At the door, he found the butler pacing around in worry. Displeased, Howard called out, “What’s going
on? Where’s the madam? Is she ready?”
The butler was panicked as he said, “The madam, s–she…”
“What in the world is she-”
