Chapter 461

“Today is a great day for all of us. We have to celebrate!” Cheryl heckled.

Everyone else followed suit.

Caroline looked at everyone and said resignedly, “Okay, it’s not a problem. From the looks of it, no one

is in the mood to work anymore.

“All right, Cheryl. Help us book a restaurant in a hotel.”

“Okay.” Cheryl quickly booked a place in the hotel’s restaurant.

Then, everyone headed toward the hotel. When they got downstairs, they happened to bump into

Luke, who had come to see Layla.

Luke also saw them and wanted to hide, but it was too late.

Gavin called him heartily, “What a coincidence, Mr. Luke!”

Right now, the last people Luke wanted to see were Caroline and Gavin. The sight of them made his

bowels twist with regret.

He had really been ignorant. He should have worked with Caroline from the start. Then, he

wouldn’t have lost everything like he did now.

“Haha, what a big coincidence, Mr. Gavin. Are you going out for food? Then, I’ll leave you to it.”

“Oh, come on!” Gavin smiled and grabbed Luke. novelbin

“Come with us, Mr. Luke. After all, you’re one of Evans Group’s former shareholders.”

Caroline raised an eyebrow at Gavin’s words. She didn’t expect an honest–looking person like him

to be this mischievous. Inviting Luke to join them for food would only crush his spirit.

The other experienced employees also joined in and rushed forward. “Yeah, he’s right. Let’s go get

some food together!”

Luke was forced to go to the hotel and join their meal to celebrate Evans Group’s victory over

Evanson Corp and their gain in market shares. He was on tenterhooks the entire time.

After a long time, he found a chance to slip away and get some fresh air. However, when he heard

the sounds of laughter from the room, he felt uncomfortable again.

Why had he foolishly decided to work with Layla back then? Luke lamented it the more he thought

about it.

He wanted to brace himself and talk to Caroline about investing several times, but he couldn’t do it in

the end. He could only watch as Gavin and George earned a fortune.

Gavin could see what was happening outside the door from where he was sitting. As he watched Luke

hammer his chest in annoyance, he couldn’t help but say to Caroline, “Look outside, Ms.

Evans.”

George heard his cousin’s words as well and followed Gavin’s gaze. He saw Luke as well, and he

suddenly felt frightened.

Fortunately, he hadn’t had time to withdraw his investments. Otherwise, he would have been the

one standing outside right now.

Thinking of this, he quickly picked up his wine glass and said to Caroline, “Let me give you a toast, Ms.

Evans. Thank you for helping me make money.”

Gavin smiled at his remark. “So now you know how great she is?”

George wiped the sweat from his forehead and grinned. “Quit joking, Gavin. I know I was ignorant

back then.”

Caroline raised her glass in return. “Let’s leave the past in the past. The company will still need

both of your help in the future.”

“No problem! Feel free to give me a call if you have money problems.”

George patted his chest and assured, “I’ll give you however much you need.”

Caroline smiled at his words. “Then, let me thank you in advance.”

Time passed quickly, and their meal was over.

Caroline left the hotel and got into the car, instantly cutting off the hustle and bustle outside.

After a day of running about, she was so tired that she struggled to keep her eyes open.

“I’m taking a short nap. Wake me up when we arrive,” she ordered. Then, she leaned back on her

seat and closed her eyes.

Seeing that she had closed her eyes, Jack didn’t say anything else and slowly drove to her

apartment. They arrived at the apartment more than an hour later.
