Chapter 209

Adrian seemed to realize that Caroline didn’t recognize him. So, he changed the subject. “I’ll ask my se

cretary to talk to you about the compensation. Do you have any other requests?”

Caroline asked in surprise, “Does the real estate management need to give compensation?”novelbin

“Of course we have to compensate you. You suffered from property damage under our management.”

Caroline understood. It was no wonder the Sorkin family could thrive in property management. Their re

ach extended to all kinds of properties in Easton. They really served their clients well.

The police officer had retrieved all the surveillance footage. He turned to Caroline in embarrassment.

“Ms. Evans, since there

are too many people involved, it will be difficult for us to arrest them one by one.”

Caroline glanced at the people indignantly demeaning her in the surveillance

footage. She smiled lightly. “That doesn’t matter. The most important thing is to arrest the person who a

ttacked me.”

The police officer agreed. “Of course.”

The police officer confirmed the details with Caroline

again. Then, he left with a copy of the surveillance footage.

“Are you going to let them off just like that?” Adrian walked up to Caroline. (1)

He smiled at her and suggested, “If you arrest those people, you can at least lock them up for a few da

ys to knock some sense into them.”

“There’s no need to do that” Caroline objected. “They’re just being deceived.”

Sarah was the true culprit behind all of this since she had spread lies online, accusing Caroline of being

a disloyal daughter.

Caroline’s scandal was big, so Adrian knew a thing or two about it. He looked over at Caroline again. Hi

s eyes were filled with interest. “I heard you got married, and your partner is a very ordinary

worker, right?”

Caroline said, “Yeah.”

“Mr. Morrison Senior hoped that you’d marry Eddy. As long as you insist on it, he’ll definitely marry you.

Didn’t you like him very much? Why did you give up?” Adrian probed even further.

Caroline looked at Adrian with a smile and quipped, “I didn’t expect you to be this nosy. Mr. Sorkin.”

Adrian laughed as well. When he smiled, his two crooked teeth showed. He looked so foolish that no o

ne would be able to tell that he was the son of the Sorkin family.

“Sorry, I shouldn’t have asked.”

“It’s not that serious.” Caroline smiled. “I just got married like any other person. But because I used to b

e Eddy’s fiancée, everyone has so many questions. That’s why I’m living so miserably right now.”

“On the contrary. I think you’re much happier than before.”

Thinking of Kirk, Caroline smiled joyfully. She affirmed, “I think so too.”

The two chatted some more. Before saying goodbye. Adrian offered to take Caroline out for a meal if gi

ven the chance. Caroline agreed casually, not taking it seriously.

“Sir, the news about you and Ms. Dawson’s marriage remains at the top of the trending list.”

Charles showed Kirk the traffic for various social media apps. He asked, “Do you want to get

someone to remove these trending searches?

Kirk frowned. He questioned, “Did you find out who did this?”

“I did. It’s a small company. According to the paparazzi, he visited Saint Pierre Grand Hotel to photogra

ph another female celebrity. Unexpectedly, he happened to see Ms. Dawson and Mr. Morrison Senior, s

o he put the pieces together.”

Charles asked in surprise, “Sir, are you implying that someone instigated this small company to do it?”

Kirk narrowed his eyes.

Charles immediately understood. “Mr Mr. Morrison Senior did this? But what’s his purpose?”

Kirk leaned back in his chair with a cold smile. Speculating, he said, “He’s suspicious of my relationship

with Carrie.”

Charles looked at Kirk in shock. He echoed, “So, the last time you guys met was to confirm that…”

Kirk waved his hand, cutting him off. He asked, “Who’s second on the trending list?”

Charles looked at Kirk hesitantly.

Noticing his hesitation, Kirk frowned. “Since when were you so hesitant to reply?”

Charles sputtered, “I–It’s the madam. Her family is accusing

her of being a freeloader and abandoning them after getting married He stopped talking when he saw K

irk’s thunderous expression.
