Chatper 1923

“Of course! That’s a blue jadeite, and it’s also an antique that’s worth a fortune!” Garrett snapped.“Worth a fortune? What a treasure!” The middle-aged man’s face lit up with joy as he carefully put away the pendant.

“We left in a hurry, so | didn’t manage to bring anything else with me. The pendant is valuable, so | hope you'll like it,” Grace saidwith a slight smile.

“Miss, considering your sincerity, I’ll pass on the message. But whether Mr. Zaeske decides to see you is beyond my control,” themiddle-aged man said cautiously.

“Thank you.” Grace nodded slightly.“Alright, please wait a moment,” the middle-aged man said and entered the courtyard.novelbin

After three minutes, he reappeared with a smile on his face. “Miss, Mr. Zaeske has agreed to see you. However, for safetyreasons, you can only bring one person with you.”

“Garrett, please keep watch here. I’ll be going in with Dustin,” Grace instructed. She then headed inside with Dustin.

Ryan lay unconscious inside a bedroom, his face pale. The village chief, Kayson Zaeske, was by his bedside, discussing hiscondition with a village doctor.

“Bob, is there really no hope of saving this young man?” Kayson’s expression was somber.

As the only survivor to emerge from the oasis alive, Ryan was an extremely valuable person. He could bring prosperity to thevillage if he played his cards well.

“Mr. Zaeske, this young man is seriously injured and has also been extensively poisoned. | lack the skills to treat him.” Thevillage doctor shook his head. He was adept at managing minor ailments but found himself utterly helpless when faced withperplexing conditions.

“It seems like we'll have to send him to the hospital.” Kayson frowned.

“Mr. Zaeske, our village is at least a day's journey from the hospital in the city. With his current condition, he might not be able tomake it,” Bob said with a sigh.

“We'll have to try. We don’t have any other options.” Kayson was helpless. The money bag that was at hand was now on theverge of death. It was a pity.

“Mr. Zaeske, my friend here is highly skilled in medicine. Why don’t you let him try?” Grace suddenly said, arriving at the door.“| heard from Paco that you're friends with this young man?” Kayson probed.

“We're not exactly friends. | just have some questions to ask him,” Grace replied truthfully.

“Well, you seem like an honest person. “Kayson nodded in satisfaction. “If you had lied, I’d have kicked you all out. 11“Mr. Zaeske, you’re a wise man. We wouldn't dare lie to you.” Grace took the opportunity to flatter Kayson.“Hahaha... You’re quite good with words.” Kayson grinned widely.

“Mr. Zaeske, Ryan’s in critical condition. It’s probably too late to send him to the hospital now. My friend has been studyingmedicine since young and specializes in various complicated illnesses. Perhaps he can help heal Ryan.” Grace shifted the focusto Dustin.

“He’s quite young.” Kayson scrutinized Dustin skeptically.

Their conventional thinking had led them to believe that older doctors possessed higher medical skills. Convincing them ofDustin’s capabilities when he was only in his 20s would prove to be a challenge.

“| may be young, but it doesn’t diminish my skills. I’m confident of waking Ryan up within 10 minutes,” Dustin said calmly, lookingextremely confident.
