Chatper 1908

Though Julius was displeased, he dared not speak. While the two brothers continuously declined the throne, unwilling to becomethe Prince, the reality was that the throne could only be claimed by one of them.

Julius was aware of this fact and dared not entertain improper thoughts lest he meet the same fate as Reagan.

“That’s enough, you rascals! I’m allowing you to inherit the throne, and you act as if it’s a punishment. Is it that difficult toaccept?” Rufus scolded, irritated by Dustin’s and Austin’s behaviors.

Neither of his sons wanted the throne, making it seem as if the position was worthless. Rufus felt embarrassed to have this manydignitaries witness the spectacle.

“I'm really not interested. You might as well pass it to Austin.” Dustin shrugged.“I'm incapable of taking up the responsibility. The Prince of West Lucozia has to be you!” Austin asserted sternly.“Silence! Both of you!”

Rufus slammed the table and snapped, “I will decide on this matter and will not tolerate your stubbornness! If it weren’t for myailing health, you would have had to wait a few more years for the throne!”

Seeing Rufus upset, Austin kept his mouth shut. However, his determined expression revealed his stance. Dustin, on the otherhand, remained indifferent.

It took Rufus a couple of deep breaths to calm down. Forcing a smile, he addressed the group, “My sons are not meetingexpectations, and | apologize for the spectacle. Let's talk about the throne another time. Tonight, let’s just enjoy the food anddrinks.”

“Come on, everyone, let’s raise our glasses!” Wyatt chimed in with a smile, attempting to diffuse the tension.novelbin

He remained impartial and supported Rufus’ decision, whichever that might be. Gradually, the frosty atmosphere dissipated, butthe assembly was now divided into three camps.

Led by Lincon, the Marquis of Riverside, a faction emerged in support of Logan. Led by Tyrus, the Marquis of Ravenwood, another faction emerged in support of Austin.

The remaining people, headed by Wyatt, the Marquis of Sunfire, maintained a neutral stance. They chose not to participate inthe struggle for the throne and would pledge allegiance to whoever took charge.

Although their decision would not bring them any advantages, it spared them from any unnecessary risks.

After the celebratory feast, everyone returned home.

Rufus summoned Dustin to his study. After a decade apart, the father and son could finally have a peaceful conversation.

Two cups of tea were served, and Rufus broached the topic first. “Logan, now that you've settled an old score and fulfilled yourlong-standing desire, isn’t it time to come back home?”

“I'm back now, aren’t |?” Dustin picked up his cup of tea and blew on it lightly.

“You know what | mean. | meant settling down for the long term, not just staying for a few days,” Rufus said.

“| still have things to do.”

Dustin spoke without hesitation, “I promised Grace to help her in her search of the Dracan essences after wiping out the DragonGuard. Now that everything is resolved, it’s time | fulfill my promise.”

“| can send someone to help you search for the Dracan essences. There’s no need for you to go personally,” Rufus suggested.
