“The Vern and Linden families have perpetrated numerous wrongs and should face severe punishment.”

Visibly angered, Rufus hinted that pleading wouldn’t sway him at this moment. Eloise, astute to the gravity of the situation, choseher words judiciously.

“You know precisely what actions are necessary,” she stated firmly. Rufus nodded and chose to remain in contemplative silence. At that very moment, a guard entered, bowing respectfully. “Your Highness, Mr. Vern has arrived.”

“Reuben, your deceitful tactics persist. Trying to shift blame with a few words won't suffice. Do you take me for a fool? “Rufusspoke sternly.

“Your Highness, my loyalty to you is unwavering. | wouldn’t dare deceive you. Please don’t heed the words of the schemers!”Reuben pleaded, genuinely aggrieved.

“Seriously, Reuben? | can’t believe you're still trying to argue. You're truly incorrigible!” Rufus scowled.novelbin

“Let me shoot it straight-the letter you're holding? My undercover agent uncovered it through a thorough investigation! No onetipped us off. I’m fully aware of the crimes your son has committed.”

“What?” Reuben was thunderstruck and turned even paler. Assuming a rival had reported them, he hadn't realized they wereRufus’s castle undercover agents.

In this critical moment, there was no room for excuses.

“Your Highness! My son’s misjudgment stemmed from intoxication-a brief lapse in discernment. | implore you to consider myunwavering loyalty and extend mercy to my son.” Reuben kneeled on the ground, groveling.

“Your family would have already faced extermination if not for your past loyalties.” Rufus abruptly pounded the table, startlingReuben.
